I have not heard his comments and am not sure I agree with them all, I usually do not, but I do not see how Trump will not be reelected as of now.

He spent the 1990's complaining about Clinton's/Democratic Party's shortcomings (Downsize This), he basically blamed Al Gore and the Democratic Party for losing to George W. Bush in 2000 (Stupid White Men), supported Kerry in 2004 but felt that he was still sort of a loser, believed that Obama would probably lose to McCain in 2008 (Mike's Election Guide 2008) and, of course, believed that it was possible for Trump to win in 2016 (which he was right about but he doesn't seem to be taking account of ALL of the factors involved). I'm not extremely surprised that he is jumping to the idea that Trump might actually win re-election in 2020 (assuming he survives that long in office). Moore is really less of a committed Democrat and more of a left-wing Naderite, so his dislike and distrust of the Democratic Party and pessimism about their chances is not all that surprising. Like with Bill Maher, there are some things that he says that I can support and agree with but then some stuff is just pretty off-base for me.

He's a contrarian by being a leftist in a country that seems awfully right wing at times, and he's to the left of the leftists in the D Party.

That's a pretty good way to describe him (and Bill Maher- though Maher is pretty much all over the map politically sometimes).

... I know his schtick. He wants to light a fire under all our asses so we keep working to get out the vote, not become complacent, don't assume Trump will lose in a landslide, etc. My take is he is really saying: "If you LET it happen, Trump will be re-elected."

We cannot let it happen. We have to keep working to reach the independents, the apathetic and the youth.

The deplorables can get fucked.

I doubt Thump or his successor will get re-elected. Thump would need a continually expanding economy and deft footwork to handle economic downdrafts here at home and international crises abroad.

I fear that some of the Republicans' desired budget cuts to the sickly and the elderly will get passed into law between now and the next Presidential election. Many of Thump's voters went for the Donald thinking that he would make things better for them, despite ample warning; will they vote for him for making things worse? A lot of Trump's credulous voting strength is going to be painfully schooled as to what all that right-wing Fibber-tarian I've-got-mine political theory means to them and theirs as they lose medical, pension, and Social Security benefits that they'd taken for granted and allowed them to indulge their right-wing fantasizing.

Moreover, race-baiting is likely to have increasingly painful consequences in the more racially-mixed states. Trashing Afro-Americans and Latinos might work very well in the Dakotas, Idaho, and West Virginia, but it's going to prove increasingly dangerous in places like Arizona and Texas. The voters of Maricopa County did sack Sheriff Joe in an election where things were trending the Donald's way. Even Hillary, arch she-devil in Texas Republicans' political pantheon' got within ten points of tying with Thump in 2016. If the Latinos of Arizona are sufficiently aroused, Arizona Republicans might well have a bad year next go-round. If the Latinos of Texas bestir themselves to register to vote and then actually go to the polls, Thump or his successor is going to have to vacate 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in 2021.

Some of the Rust Belt and some red states are going to flip next election.

We need to nominate a candidate who: a) is not eligible for Social Security, b) is not associated with Hillary Clinton, c) has a clear message d) does not have baggage that Trump can run against

We also have to send the slogan "better deal" back to the shop for a make-over
