Got an evangelical friend says that hotels are letting people stay free in Houston

and that FEMA is paying for those that don't offer free rooms, so why on earth should Joel Osteen open up that beautiful church to people who will turn it into another Superdome?

Seriously - if anyone has any evidence that there are free hotel rooms, please share the source, but I think it's all just rumor.

Every inch of space is needed. With some guards, people to offer aid and supplies it doesn't have to be a Superdome.

I also don't give a happy damn if every inch of that church is covered with people and the mud they bring. Keeping it clean should be the LAST worry.

If he won't open the damn church to help people, all it really will be is a huge atm sucking people's money.

5. Regardless, it doesn't excuse Osteen from his covetousness or false witness

The availability of hotel rooms has nothing to do with Osteen's un-Christian yet entirely predictable refusal to allow desperate people to shelter in his church.

Even if true as told, there are likely many who can make their way to Osteen's palace of greed but who might not be able to make it to one of the free hotels, and I for one would opt to use shelter that is available and right in front of me in preference to some far-off shelter that might not be.

Shame on Osteen and on every idiot sheep in his flock of idiots who make excuses for him.

7. Oh, I know. She's bending over backwards to defend him.

And this is her "proof" that hotels are free, and FEMA is picking up the tab.

A text from her daughter in Houston, and the fact that I am asking for more information is an attack on her daughter's character...

8. Ask your evangelical friend to try wrapping their pea-brain around 30,000 people displaced*

* that's the number being bandied about today, but the number we grow significantly as the rescues continue.

9. But she asks, "Can you prove that all the other shelters are at capacity?"

I told her that a true house of worship doesn't ask if others can help first, before they do.

They ask to be of service if there is anyone in need.
