How about that contention?
Friday's Boston Globe article reveals that Romney negotiated a 10-year severance package from Bain starting retroactively from Feb 1999. The details are confidential. Fine. Kudos to him for negotiating a sweet deal for 3 years while not working.
It seems obvious to me that the severance package details (illustrated within the 10 years of 1999-2009 tax returns) would reveal that a few super rich white guys were negotiating Mitt's (massive and lengthy) severance package at the same time Bain was sacrificing jobs, killing retirement packages, shortening healthcare benefits, pioneering outsourcing, etc. of the companies it was managing. Mitt's financial relationship with Bain after 1999 probably is the story of greed and capitalism at it's worst. For every dollar he negotiated in his severance there is a direct relationship for a dollar taken away from workers.
According to Meet the Press this morning
Mitt challenged Ted Kennedy to release more tax returns in the mid 1990's when Mitt released three years worth
Mitt is not opposed to releasing more than 2 years of tax returns
I believe he is simply opposed to releasing his returns for 1999-2009 returns, because they will tell the ugly story of his profiting from Bain after he left. His dividend and investment income came at the expense of many middle class working families.
