He has no normal human feelings (other than rage and vindictiveness) so doesn't understand the need for sympathy and empathy and expressions of caring, they are just not part of his thinking or vocabulary. When he reads words that sound caring, they are someone else's words and he sounds totally wooden and it's obvious he doesn't mean anything at all he's saying, just going through the motions. He does everything but roll his eyes, he's so uncomfortable acting even partially human for less than a few minutes.
