They are fantastic! She isn't holding back. Not everyone is happy though. There have been calls for book burning, which fits the fascist milieu in which we find ourselves.

I don't recall Kerry trashing Howard Dean in 2005.
BainsBane
(53,072 posts)I don't recall your objecting to any of it. In fact, I recall your eagerly joining in. So now she's giving her point of view, a quite truthful one. If you don't like what she has to say, don't buy the book. She's out of fucks to give, and so am I.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)I'm sure you think she's justified in launching a doomed effort to relitigate the 2016 primary, but this won't persuade a single person who wasn't already a die-hard supporter of hers.
This kind of stuff is self-service. I'm sure readers will ascertain the high regard with which the author views Clinton.
BainsBane
(53,072 posts)She's out of politics. What you think of her no longer matters. She's free to say exactly what she wants.
I'm glad she did. She is saying what millions of people have been thinking for a long time.

(53,072 posts)including at her interview at the tech conference a few months ago. If you watch that interview, or parts of it, it's obvious. Someone asked her if she planned to run for office again, and it was clear from how she answered, with no politician's hedging, that she meant it. Search for the clip. You'll see.
Also, she wouldn't have written the book in the way she has if she planned to run again.

(16,980 posts)hear her not hold back. No one held back on her and were applauded and encouraged to attack her in the nastiest ways. Why shouldn't she gave the chance to reciprocate. Obviously it doesn't matter how low you go in politics now, so she'll set some new standards in returning fire.
This is actually what I thought could be a good role for her. She can attack people now in a way that might enable newcomers to promote themselves while she/they give them some cover.

(53,072 posts)about the election from her perspective, one that millions of voters relate to. She's a major part of history, and her point of view matters, regardless of whether you think she should be silenced.
She offered some criticisms and some compliments of him. I didn't see anything in the excerpts I read that wasn't truthful. I understand you believe that Bernie and his supporters should be able to criticize Clinton and the Democratic Party and never face any criticism in return. That's not how it works. I'm not a fan of double standards myself, largely because they single an underlying assumption that some people are better than others. That' s not a view I share or respect.
Hillary isn't a member of DU. She has no obligation to remain silent about the primaries, or to acquiesce to the Kremlin or any of her opponents versions of how they were conducted. You'll just have to deal with the fact some Americans will read that book.

What a ridiculous position for DU to be in, to not be able to honestly discuss or post excerpts from Hillary's book about the 2016 election. But, that's life in an imperfect world. Previews are a few keystrokes away, and the book'll be out in 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 days. It may already be available on Kindle.

(765 posts)People losing their shit over the book demonstrate exactly why her candor is needed. Everyone got to Monday morning quarterback and drag her during the primary and GE, but apparently some people think her giving her perspective (which happens to express exactly what a lot of us saw and experienced as well) is the most awful thing ever.
It's clear some people will never learn anything, and will be ruled by conditioned hatred and sexism. Among Democrats, that's a recipe for continued failure.
