The CIS is a anti immigration non profit that has ties to white supremacy groups. The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled them a hate group. But again this morning NPR has put them on as a expert on immigration. This is at least the eighth time this year. Today they falsely claimed more than once that Obama acted illegally with regards to DACA. It was never challenged. Thanks NPR! Good luck on your fund raising efforts.

(12,633 posts)or the right. Giving a point of view air time does not imply an endorsement. It is a PUBLIC network and airs all credible viewpoints. Many of us tolerate that for the sake of democracy and freedom of speech. And, of course, there's always the teeny, tiny possibility that someone else's point of view may have a teeny, tiny bit of validity also.
There is no future for our democracy if half the country gets its news from Rachael Maddow and the other half from Fox News.
I support NPR through its local stations both in my home city, where I get local news I get nowhere else and in NYC, which produces excellent programs, such as On the Media, the Brian Leherer Show, the Takeaway, and more. To me, this is the single most valuable medium I have available.

(33,360 posts)NPR has been erring on the side of letting the right gish gallop flat out lies.
BTW, the half of our democracy that gets its news from Rachael Maddow gets actual facts.

(4,268 posts)is with the word "credible". Remember these names:
FAIR, CIS, NumbersUSA.
They are anti-immigrant hate groups. Their members show up at town hall type events to disrupt them when the topic is immigration. They fabricate stats, and demonize immigrants ad nauseum. They are not credible and shouldn't be treated as such like NPR did this morning (without an opposing viewpoint even). Leave that stuff to Breitfart who cite those organizations ALL the time.

(192 posts)Why are you assuming I want a msnbc clone? I am only looking for reporting that questions anyone's point of view. Maybe a bit of background on who the person or organization is. Or a bit of fact checking the repeated claim that Obama acted illegally. I listen to NPR every day and hold much of their programing in high regard. But if I think they drop the ball or get sloppy I'll say so.
