with the assistance of Republicans in Congress, then I have a suggestion:
Work your ass off, along with everyone else who feels the same about Trump, to elect Democrats to every possible office in 2018 and 2020, even if it means working to elect Democrats with whom you do not agree on 100% of issues. That's the only way we're going to get ourselves out of this disastrous, unbelievable mess we're in right now.
This is not the time for bickering among ourselves if we are Democrats, Liberals, Progressives or whatever. It is the time for us to all pitch in together to reverse the terrible trend that was set in motion in 2016. Once we deal with that, we can begin, once again, to fight among ourselves in our quest for perfection in government.
The Republicans, right-wingers, teabaggers and fascists are counting on us to continue fighting each other. If we do that, they will continue to defeat us. Let's not do that, OK?

We need absolute unity here!
Let the Right wingers bicker, it is obvious that they are actually more fractured.
Look at how many candidates they put up for the Presdential nomination!
The RNC debates were a complete shit show full of morons and clowns.
And, now look what we have in the White House.
There are rumors of "Him" becoming independent, and starting a party. I say, more power to them!
Let the RW assholes start as many parties as they want.
Let's see their vote fractured this time!
Let's see them try to win with their versions of Jill FrankenStein fracturing the vote totals!
We need this sick minded right wing minority out of positions of power, or the country is doomed.
Come together dammit!

(10,836 posts)Vote for Democrats. For a win in 2018 and a follow through in 2020. Because that's how we change course and have the luxury of reshaping the party, whittling a more perfect organization.
There's no sense in demanding major remodeling/construction when your house is on fire. And that's where we're at, not merely for the Democratic Party but the Nation at large. Trumpism is a disaster, a destructive agent meant to rot out our democratic Republic, pervert voting rights/Constitutional protections and lean on the most vulnerable amongst us. This is not a test or a passing fancy; this is a 3-alarm conflagration whipped into being by a bunch of arsonists who are quite willing to set themselves on fire. Because their aim is to destroy, disassemble, deconstruct. With a little help from their friends.
We are under attack, a 21st century animal which relies on chaos, disinformation and propaganda. Bombs are so yesterday!
If the Democratic Party cannot get its act together or shake-off our 2016 bitterness, we will all go down with the burning building. Ashes get us nowhere but dead. The Democratic Party for all its imperfections is the best hope of stopping the craziness, the demoralizing bigotry and misogyny and the unhinged Umber Emperor. That requires work and faith and determination.
We can do this. But we can only do it together.

(146,324 posts)exactly what is needed is beyond me, but we are still arguing about the same old crap instead of banding together, despite minor differences.
