Dreamers chase Nancy Pelosi out of her own press conference

"A group of protesters on Monday took over a press conference being held by Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA).
ADVERTISING

Pelosi was discussing her efforts to save the so-called Dreamer program, when the group of Dreamers took over the event in San Francisco and started chanting. The group is apparently upset that Pelosi is working with Trump to pass a legislative fix for the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program"

The protesters chanted and yelled for more than 30 minutes, giving Pelosi little time to respond.

https://www.rawstory.com/2017/09/watch-live-nancy-pelosi-press-conference-descends-into-chaos-as-dreamers-take-over/

Do these protesters have any idea how legislation is passed?

The Democrats are working to get a "Dreamers Bill" passed through Congress, and made into law that isn't dependent on an executive order.

Perhaps these protesters should be going after the republicans instead of Democrats who are trying to make DACA law

Protesters swarm on Democrats, who already support their cause, rather than on the GOPers, who are the ones who need their minds changed.

I can only presume they do that because with the Dems they at least have a chance of getting their message out for a few minutes and possibly some national air time, whereas the GOPers will have them summarily tossed out the door before they get through one chant.

It's rather cowardly, though, taking the path of least resistance.

Unless you are on the brink of going to prison for something not of your own fault or volition, you don't have as much say in how they should be defending themselves right now. you don't seem to understand that the DEms get their plight. The issue here, on, this thread, are the tactics they use which are viewed as counterproductive. And they have to look at the bigger political picture, for their own sake, to understand the landscape of their plight. What they did today isn't it. You can see on this thread, and elsewhere that this tactic will harm their cause. And if they are being led by Our Revolution then they are being used.

Further, thinking they are in a position to make a deal will get them nowhere. All or none is an unrealistic goal and will surely push the Con agenda to deport them somewhere they don't belong.

US born kids, mortgages, a lot of them own businesses. You can't deport 11 million people, but hey, go vote for that "lefty".

Do you really expect them to go back to where they came from leaving their kids here for 10 years if not a lot longer (if the US born kids are young and can't sponsor parents until they turn 21 if ever)?

They're not taking any jobs from anyone. Dating back to June there were over 6 million jobs available for anyone who wants to work. 6 million unfilled jobs.

I'm sure if your ancestors had to overstay a visa in order to give their kids a better life away from poverty and violence they would've turned down that opportunity to "play by the rules". The immigration system is broken, the rules are not realistic.

Are we going to pretend that might doesn't make right in third world countries? That we're supposed to be proud that nobody is above OR below the law in the US. I know it's all the rage for many on the left to pretend the US is the scourge of the planet but it does make it hard to explain why so many people risk their lives to come here every single day when where they came from must be some kind of paradise simply because it's not the US.

Go ahead and pretend it's skin color. Of course, that would mean there are zero brown people who do things legally when it comes to immigration. Is that really the claim you want to argue with me?

I know these are uncomfortable truths for many on the far left but don't even bother trying to shame me - I don't give people who pretend up is down that kind of power.

Go head and pretend it's not skin color. And yes, I'm sure compared to you, I must be "far left".

This clip will be used over and over again in Retrumplican Congressional and Senate ads, and will be used by the media to show weakness and disarray within the Democratic Party... the only party that actually gives a damn about them.

Call me when they start disrupting Retrumplican events.

It's so damn frustrating, ignorant and short sighted.

The reward we gave to Democrats for advancing a progressive government was to fucking decimate Democrats at the state, local and federal government just in time for the census and redistricting!

It will take a generation to fix that fucking failure.

This demonstration will do nothing but help elect even more Retrumplicans. Unless their goal is to make the country so fucked for 50 years that people will finally throw the cons out of power... this was a miserable failure.

Steve Bannon thanks them for their actions.

Most of the dreamers age group now is older teens and young adults, even 30 somethings.

What's on the table, as in Obama's executive order are those in that age group.

Save them if at all possible.

Protests unfortunately are not going to change the status of their parents and we know trump will not draft an EO for them.

We just have to wish them the best and hope they avoid deportation as they've done since they made the decision to come here with their kids.

The reality is extremely harsh.

SHOW it. Sanders handled that disruption the way he should. With respect, rather than dismissal. I do not know what bone these dreamers have with Pelosi, and I don't put it past people to be entirely misguided in their anger or rage sometimes, but they know, and you should know, that there are too many times in history, brought up here often, where Democrats have pushed the needs of minorities to the back and asked them to stick with them anyway, only to never deliver. Maybe that's not where we are with the dreamers. I'll have to look at their grievances before I come down one way or another, but have you done that yourself?

Remember how fucking "cooperative" the ReTrumplicans were with President Obama?

See how many fucking seats they lost because they wouldn't "compromise" with the "Kenyan Born Islamic Terrorist"?? NO?? NEITHER DO I!

Retrumplicans were "rewarded" for being "pricks and assholes" by their voters that "wanted them to be pricks and assholes"

Frankly, I have no fucking respect for Pelosi or Schumer for even being in the same fucking room with Orange Julius Caesar.

While they were being all "chummy" with the fucking Devil, the Retrumplicans were scheming for a vote to repeal the ACA and kill hundreds of thousands of people and it looks apparent that they are going to be successful

They push through this fucking ACA repeal, it's time to SHUT THE FUCKING COUNTRY DOWN.

Let them try to round up 800,000 Dreamers and deport them. There should be NO FUCKING DEALING REQUIRED TO DO THE RIGHT GOD DAMN THING

Let them fucking own their "deplorableness"

major betrayal given every statement Trump made during the campaign, his outrageous positions, threats, staff, etc -- EVERY SINGLE THING WE DISCUSSED ON THIS SITE FOR MONTHS -- it makes me feel ill to see Pelosi and Schumer buddying up to Trump.

This new "repeal and replace" (lmfao) plan is another disgusting attempt to devastate the healthcare system and Obamacare by sneaking through a monster -- it allows for "looser" approaches towards preexisting conditions -- which means that people will be denied coverage. Period. That's the only point of allowing for a "loosening of protections."

And if the Dems aren't paying attention and/or are so focused on having little feel-good dinners with Trump while this monster goes through without comments or challenge...just ugh. Awful, weak backsliding and undermining of every thing we said and experienced.

on here! Support for undocumented immigrants shouldn't come with ambiguous conditions such as whether or not you like what actions they may choose to take, should it?

Do any of you condemning these people have any idea what occurred in the House just last week, on Thursday? Maybe try doing a search on H.R.3697 or the Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act to actually try and understand what's sparked the righteous anger of these young vulnerable people. There is a very immediate fear now for not only the parents and grandparents, brothers and sisters, and all extended families of any of the Dreamers, but also for all those groups, organizations, and individuals who might have helped them along the way to attaining a secure place in this nation.

Do you not understand that our government is after them, all of them, DACA recipients and their friends, families, loved ones, and any of those who were too leery to sign away their info to a shaky Federal plan back in 2012 that didn't even guarantee the protection of citizenship to those without "papers"; after them in San Francisco, in blue states and red states, in the fields and the "skilled" jobs, in the schools and colleges, on the border, and more than anywhere, in Washington. They have no vote, no representation whatsoever, except their own activist organizations, such as United We Dream and other Immigrant justice alliances spread across this country.

These are the same kids, the very same groups, who took action to get promises fulfilled back when our Party was still in control of government but did nothing to assure them protection from deportation, human rights, and a future that made it possible for them to have any dreams. They took much the same action as today, with President Obama in D.C. and their persistent progressive LOUD movement for justice is the only reason why DACA came to be in the first place in 2012.

Where's the empathy for the fragile current situation of 11 million people who've been living and working in the U.S.A. simply to have a chance at a better life?

I am both astounded and saddened coming into this thread. Walk a couple miles in an undocumented immigrant's shoes, then get back to me.

People are sitting around and the only thing they think they can do is, or should even do, is vote in tainted elections every other year.

Lives are on the line here and it's evident people don't see that... telling people to vote in a year doesn't do anything right now.

We have to be the change, we have to be the force behind motions.

Believe me, there are others of us who were born in this country and who have long deceased family members and relatives also born here who've walked and who continue to walk miles in our own shoes in our own county (USA). I'm half Native-American and half African-American, and I'm sure you know that Native-Americans and African-Americans are STILL walking and struggling in our shoes mile after mile right here (USA).

It's always a very good idea to attack the politicians who support your cause and are in a position to work in very significant ways to help you and your cause. From the video it appears that Ms. Pelosi was amused and happy to let this group have their say. Then she attempted to get the mic and focus back. Eventually she and the other congress critters abandoned the stage.

Which all makes me want to know who organized these "dreamers" and talked them into being ammo for their opponents and targets for their supporters who may be wavering a bit.

They wouldn't even let her talk. I can also understand her position on single payer to a degree. Trump will never sign it, so protecting the ACA is important. Now if she actually undermines single payer, I would not be happy about that.

Nancy Pelosi Shouted Down by Immigration Activists at News Conference

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was shouted down by pro-immigration activists in San Francisco Monday for participating in negotiations with President Donald Trump over protections for some undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

The group interrupted a Pelosi press conference in her home district to object to the framework of an agreement that would preserve the Dream Act while increasing border security. The protesters indicated they are unhappy with a proposed deal that focuses only on continued protection for those in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, but does not include comprehensive immigration reform.

about to speak.

It seems the people behind this "protest" against the only person with any power, and who is the only one fighting for them do not know very much and they're being led by people who never bothered to figure out any portion of basic civics.

These are American kids, most of whom grew up here, and were educated in American schools, somehow the ones who didn't learn basic manners also missed out a few other lessons.

Those kids standing right behind Nancy, they were Dreamers who did. What's the difference between them? Everyone is angry and afraid, but one group is smart enough to work with the people who are trying to help them, while the other was perfectly fine with letting others use them to attack Democrats for failing to wave a magic want to fix everything in on fell swoop in exactly the way they imagined.

Who's leading these people and how to educate the ones who are living in fantasy land making asses of themselves?
