Interesting to check the almanac to see that some years had numerous hurricanes that were memorable enough to retire the names.
Also, one year must have been very prolific, because we went down to W for Wilma.

I distinctly remember getting into early October that year and saying we had made it through hurricane season unscathed.
It was notable after the barrage of 2004 (Charlie, Ivan, Jeanne and Francis) and 2005 (Katrina, Rita).
It seemed to make sense at the time since we had never had a bad hurricane that late in the season.
Alas, I was wrong. The eye went right over our house.
I jinxed us. It was my fault. I take full responsibility.

We had another six storms that year after Wilma. Two of which became Hurricanes (but did not threaten the US)
