"Valerie Plame, a former CIA operations officer at the center of the 2003 agency leak scandal dubbed the Plame Affair, tweeted out an article Thursday from the anti-Israel website UNZ Review, entitled, Americas Jews Are Driving Americas Wars.
The tweet, which remains active on Plames feed as of publishing, links to an anti-Semitic article arguing people of Jewish faith should recuse themselves from dealing with the Middle East.
Jewish groups and deep pocket individual donors not only control the politicians, they own and run the media and entertainment industries, meaning that no one will hear about or from the offending party ever again, the article reads, adding they have been very successful at faking the Iranian threat, so much so that nearly all Republican and most Democratic congressmen as well as much of the media seem to be convinced that Iran needs to be dealt with firmly, most definitely by using the U.S. military, and the sooner the better.
The article goes on to argue that many of the staffers in George W. Bushs administrationsunder which Plame served and had her identity as a covert CIA officer revealedwere neocons who had a universal attachment to the state of Israel.

Fwiw, though, my husband's Jewish, but I also have no problem with people speaking uncomplimentary truths when they are true. They should. Among the 3% or so of Americans who are Jews, and the tiny percentage of those who might actually affect policy, individually or only collectively, are some militant conservatives as eager to make trouble for others as militant conservatives of any other religion. Like Pence's.

I don't see Israel as a nation that has no choice but to persecute internally and warmonger externally because of geographic factors but as a nation unfortunately being run by dangerously incompetent people. When a wave of reaction finally sweeps a majority of decent and competent people into office, Israel will behave more decently and competently and I'll once again be able to support much of what they do. Not until then, there or here.

"For those American Jews who lack any shred of integrity, the media should be required to label them at the bottom of the television screen whenever they pop up, e.g. Bill Kristol is Jewish and an outspoken supporter of the state of Israel. That would be kind-of-like a warning label on a bottle of rat poison..."

Take a look at the article in question. I would submit that it is not, um, plausible that one could "zero in on" the "neocon criticism" and fail to notice the anti-Semitic nature of the piece. The word "Jew" is never far from any discussion of the "neocon" issue. Indeed, the "Jew" issue permeates the entire piece.
Plame is a gutless liar.

You'll note that this 2015 tweet was referencing an article by the same person (Philip Giraldi), appearing in the same online publication (Unz.com) as her recent tweet regarding "American Jews." She knew exactly what she was doing.
Plame is a liar as well as a contemptible Jew-hater. The reason for her "apology" is that, this time, she apparently realizes that she was perhaps a little too overt.

(82,849 posts)But according to my friends in CPT who have served in Hebron, Gaza, and the West Bank, there is a definite segment of America's Jewish population (e.g., Bill Kristol, Shel Adelson) who are heavy duty backers of projecting American military power in the very places we currently occupy with our military. Are they the only drivers? No. But are they a significant factor? I would say yes. That's a simple declaration based on publicly-known facts.

Plame suggested Jews were the ones bolstering the state of Israel. Of course that is an anti-semitic canard. The irony I pointed to is that the most pro-Israel group in America is not Jews but Evangelicals.

If Zionism simply means the Jews should have a homeland in the Middle East most of us are Zionists. In fact there is a street in Tel Aviv named after one of my relatives who was a famous nineteenth century Zionist.
That being said my heart is with the Israeli left just as my heart is with the American left. I hold Netanyahu in the same low regard I hold Trump. They and we deserve better.

(99,710 posts)One poster said Evangelicals support Israel because they believe it will facilitate Armageddon and then the Rapture. I pointed out that Evangelical support is deeper than that. I would also say that many Christians do feel guilt about the Holocaust, about their role in fostering anti-semitism in general, and do feel a kinship with Jews because all the Prophets were Jewish, all the Disciples were Jewish save Luke, and Christ himself was Jewish.
