https://shareblue.com/completely-unprompted-mike-pence-declares-he-was-not-aware-of-collusion-with-russia/Sure, Uptighty Whitey, I believe you (wink, wink) . . .
Pences outburst also come hours after it was revealed that then-Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort offered to give a Russian billionaire connected to Vladimir Putin private briefings on the Trump campaign.
It is well-known that Russian operatives who promised dirt on Hillary Clinton met with the highest level members of the Trump campaign, including Manafort, Donald Trump Jr., and Jared Kushner, Trumps son-in-law and current senior White House adviser.
Appearing on CBS This Morning, Pence was asked by anchor Charlie Rose if he felt Muellers investigation was overstepping its bounds, an allegation Trump himself has made.
After noting that determination was for others to say, Pence then shifted focus and, completely unprompted, told Rose, Ive made clear that during my time on the campaign, I was not aware of any contacts or any collusion with Russian officials.

(5,528 posts)As VP, it was always a stretch to believe that Bush Sr. was out of the loop on Iran Contra.
Especially since he was the ex-head of the CIA.
In my book, that either made him a liar or incompetent. Either one should have disqualified him from the Presidency.

(4,921 posts)"Protest" in the sense of that line means "vow." Hamlet was saying that the woman in the play that was supposed to represent the queen was making too many vows to too many men in an effort to take a jab at mom.
Much like "wherefore art thou Romeo" doesn't mean "where" are you but "why" are you (named) Romeo.
I fully realize most people don't know that or use it that way, but there's your free Elizabethan literature lesson for the day.

"I took the road less traveled by" is another one. I laughed a lot when they tackled that misuse in the first episode of Orange is the New Black.

I've said it before: I think the main, deep-down visceral reason that trump picked Mike Pence was because he's the whitest-looking white guy anybody's ever seen, outside any member of the albino community, that is. NOBODY looks as much like a slice of conventional garden-variety white bread as Mike Pence does.

There is also the part when the maggot was ready to fly out to meet Chris Christy to choose him for VP but his plane developed engine problems that kept him on the ground - to meet Pence.

(182,829 posts)That's normally the case anyway but in the Russia thing - they are barely aware it's going on.
Fox News hardly covers it (to portray the viewer as a victim) and talk radio mocks it.
A FB friend posted some nonsense about Ashley Judd this morning which I quickly found to be made up. When posting the link I commented "Thank you Russian bots for this disinformation". He responded "Oh you libs and the Russians. You all are still on that?"
They have no idea.

(10,832 posts)Is this the same Mike Pence, who when asked about whether he thought there might have been Russian and campaign collusion, said with self-righteous certainty,
"Of course, not."
That Mike Pence???
The walls are beginning to close in. Cory L has called out Manafort and Roger Stone, said if they colluded with the Russians they should go to jail. I suspect a circular firing squad is in the making.

(90,347 posts)... angle so Benedict Donald and the Kremlin KKKlan can't come on say "we didn't mean to commit treason" or some shit like that.
They ... KNEW ... what they were doing was fucked up to some degree and then tried to obstruct the investigation into it.
Pence's statements are going to be used against him and his "I didn't know shit" excuse isn't going to work either.

(5,810 posts)People who hitched their wagon on the tRump bandwagon are starting to realize that all the shenanigans done last year are snowballing on them. With Mueller's help, of course. Pence is in a thorny position. He had to distance himself from key players to try to avoid the stench they carry. But then if he goes too far, it looks like he is a world class doofus. So rock meet hard place. This is what you get when you play footsie with snakes. I can't wait to see him (and others) squirm like a worm on a hot griddle. Must see TV, indeed!
