AARP: Older Americans to pay $16K more under GOP ObamaCare repealBY PETER SULLIVAN - 09/21/17 09:30 AM EDT
A new study from the AARP finds that older people could pay as much as $16,174 more per year for health coverage under the Republican bill to repeal ObamaCare sponsored by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.).
The bill threatens to make health care unaffordable and inaccessible for millions of older Americans, AARP, which opposes the measure, writes in the report.
The study finds that on average nationwide, a 60-year-old making $25,000 per year would have to pay as much as $16,174 more per year for health insurance. That is a result of the possible elimination of two kinds of ObamaCare subsidies, which help people afford their premiums and out of pocket costs.

(12,633 posts)infringement on it. We're really talking about 55 - 65 year olds who don't have employer-provided insurance. Maybe it's because I'm older than that, but I don't consider them "elders". What ever happened to "middle-aged"? I know, "elders" is more sympathy-inducing, but is it accurate? Or is that irrelevant to today's media?

(24,396 posts)the less $ the feds need to shell out in entitlement benefits.
Of course, the ultimate goal is to privatize those systems and to grab that money as pure profit. The beauty is that you'll still have millions of people paying into those programs from age 18-62 who will never draw a cent in benefits because they die before reaching retirement age.
