McCain can afford to vote No. He just got re-elected, the Donald or the Donald's successor faces a difficult re-election two years before he does, and he's probably got the smarts to see that an easy-peasy Republican electoral romp won't happen in 2022.

I really thought that he would fold, or that he would drag it out to the very end before killing the bill in order to maximize the attention. He seems to have done the right thing, and I thank him for it.

And it still doesn't remotely get him off the hook for giving us Palin.
