We don't dare stop calling or emailing our senators until the thing is dead and buried. McCain could change his mind, McConnell could armtwist Paul or Collins. This is NOT the time for us to stand down. Not yet.

Link was very helpful. Similar links for Collins and Murkowski would be most appreciated‼️ Peace, Hannah

(31,121 posts)Why should it?
I mean if enough Americans thought they were the same and allowed the cons to get this close to literally destroying America, their dream by the way, then why should they stop?
Why shouldnt they put judges and justices in power who will send women into back alleys to die, I mean if we didnt want that to happen we would have overcome the hacking and crosscheck and what not...

(51,626 posts)Keep the pressure on them non stop until Oct 1st!!!! The rich GOP donors want what they paid a lot of money for...tax cuts! They are putting a ton of pressure on the GOP to repeal it so they get can even richer. This IS NOT ABOUT PEOPLE'S HEALTHCARE. This is 100% about giving the 1% more money since they can never have enough! They are greedy murderers!

(2,749 posts)there are a few Dem Senators we need to keep up with. I think we would be remiss not to keep up the pressure on them as well.

(51,626 posts)to encourage them to draw out the vote as long as possible until Oct 1st! I have been getting many gmails telling Dems in blue states to call their reps too.

(2,597 posts)However, by McCain stepping forward a week ahead of the deadline approaching, it might serve to bolster the resolve of those who have already stated they plan to cast a vote to oppose the legislation and others who may be leaning that way but haven't voiced their decision. It's always hairier to seem like the lone bird in the wilderness in such a situation. I have to believe that despite all the sweet talk and promises McConnell has promised members like Murkowski and others, they know in whatever vestige of a heart they have that this bill is literally toxic to their constituents ultimately. Collins has come out today and stated that bill will completely gut the provision for ensuring that healthcare insurers are required to cover people with preexisting conditions without prejudice in pricing, so it really matters very little at all if the poorest opioid addicted of their constituents get to keep their coverage, the gutting of the preexisting requirement will mean that everyone but the permanently healthy and the forever young will be slammed with exorbitant healthcare insurance premiums and cost of care from here on out if they vote for this wretchedly cynical bill. Ultimately, the rethugs will pay a steep price politically for this. It might not happen right away, but it's coming. It's. coming.

(15,806 posts)Republican doctors in congress dont have very reassuring viewpoints. Remember diagnose via video tape Frist? Or Broun, who famously declared that scientific knowledge is straight from the pits of hell? How about former Oklahoma senator-gynecologist Coburn? And Wyomings senator Barrasso, orthopedic surgeon, is downright scary. Do we need to mention self-certified ophthalmologist Rand Paul? These guys could form a laboratory that would put Dr. Frankenstein to shame!

(37,648 posts)I sort of am okay with diagnosing via video in some cases. If cases are not complex, and people are rural, it could be the best option.
But I remember Frist because of his part in the Terry Schiavo case. Remember that? Horrible. Just horrible.

(4,558 posts)I'm sooo fucking wishing we could go back and show the Democratic Party majorities of 2009/2010 this congress and piss-resident, and tell them to stop caring about fucking rumpublican feelings, and pass the bill WITH either the government option or single payer and tell Lieberman and the few other hold outs that killed the government option in the first place to just piss off.
I have never hated my country, and now I fucking despise it more and more every day. Fuck the USA... Well, at least those that have put these shitheads into power, or played a part in enabling their rise to power.

(25 posts)Hi Gang!
Once more we have to keep those cards, letters, phone calls, faxes,Tweets, emails, semaphore signals going. We are making progress on kicking ACA replacement, AKA Graham-Cassidy, to the curb. We cant slack off until a stake is pounded through the heart of this monstrosity.
McCain is a committed NO.
Collins & Murkowski are on the fence - the impact analyses show massive negative impact on their states (and all other states that accepted Medicare expansion). Remind them of that. Murkowski was greeted quite warmly when she returns to Alaska after her last No vote in July. Collins has been working with Dems to fix parts of the ACA. This abomination of a healthcare bill throws a wrench into her efforts of bipartisanship.
Capito, Portman, and Gardner are folks who may be persuaded. The big money pressure is on them big time. They will most likely be confronted by primary challengers. Moran is in the same boat. But he is from a rural state which has been impacted negatively by the Koch boys experiments with nutso economics and he has gotten that message. He may be looking for a way out. Lets help him.
