"It Is A Privilege To Serve" Vets Should Expect Nothing For Their Service. Be Grateful.

The military takes ONLY the best and the brightest and not everyone can get in. You have to be fit to serve if you want into the military. You are pat of an elite who is allowed to serve. It is a privilege and an honor to risk and even give your life for freedom.
So when you are finished with your service no matter your condition you should NOT expect the government to reward you for your privilege. To "buck up" soldier and get a job and learn to take care of your self. BTW what I just said has been secretly GOP logic. And if you remember Andy ?Rooney. His philosophy was repeated many times on 60 minute.

In actuality very little about that belief system has changed within the GOP and conservatives. And it is one reason why the VA is on the chopping block and has been underfunded for decades. THEY WANT IT TO FAIL. Bush tried it for 8 years by contracting services to unqualified contractors.

agreement between you and the government in exchange for your service.

The only thing vets I know want is for the government to uphold the promises they made.

I worked for the Labor Department in Colorado. And we had veterans programs. Reagan and the GOP have pretty much ended ALL the veterans re employment programs that existed when I was with Labor. Through my career the GOP has consistently workers at underfunding veterans programs. It has been particularly true since the GOP has had more control.

Reagan began the screwing of veterans on steroids. And it has gotten worse ever since 1980. And now that we have a volunteer military the excuse is that since you volunteered there IS NO obligation to take care of vets.

On top of that the general public does not really support veterans. They may say so, but once you have served you service is all forgotten.

VETERANS TODAY ARE NO MORE THAN PROPS FOR ULTRA NATIONALIST AND REPUBLICANS. When it come to care they could care less to fund anything.

1981. Served until June 1, 1992. I am receiving every benefit I was promised. I have no complaints, and I don't expect more than what I was promised.

Whoever said that was never a recruit wrangler or processed disciplinary actions.

Considering that most Repugs avoid military service like the plague, of course they spew bs about it. Further, they firmly believe it's a "privilege" reserved for bottom feeders and bottom feeders are made to be screwed with.

As my tech sgt spousal unit once pointed out, being a wrangler and personnel mgt puke is the equivalent of being a police desk sergeant in Bronx. One develops a realistic opinion of humanity.

and their pride in and need to take care of them, the way they used to. I don't think it's because they don't care, though. Many have vets in their families.

They're following their leaders now, but I suspect that somewhere deep in at least some minds has to be awareness of hypocrisy and betrayal.
