Did Lindsey Graham stab John McCain in the back?

No doubt, Trump and McConnell thought they could push the ACA repeal thru if they could get John McCain on board. They probably recruited Graham as a sponsor, believing that McCain would never vote against his friend?

If that was the case, it didn't work. McCain has said that he must follow his conscience and he cannot vote for such a bill as the Graham/Cassidy bill.

If Graham actually permitted himself to be used in such a way, it is shameful. I cannot help but believe that the only reason Graham's name was on the bill was as an attempt to get the vote of John McCain.

All of them have deeply personal grudges - and then they put together a bill that has every previously rejected flaw in it a variety of Republicans have voted against already?

We COULD look at this like some kind of version of "Republican Star Wars: The Establishment Strikes Back."

Graham needs political cover after standing with McCain last time. Both gain from this among radicalized GOP. McCain preserves his maverick elder statesman image. Graham gets to tack right again after a spell of being thought a squishy lefty.
