The Memo: Fears escalate over North Korea

The escalating crisis over North Korea is worrying experts who say that a previously unthinkable nuclear conflict is fast becoming a real possibility.

“Right now, I would say we are heading to war,” said Joe Cirincione, president of the Ploughshares Fund, an organization that supports nuclear weapon reduction and eventual elimination.

Anxiety is especially acute among liberals who fear that President Trump’s confrontational rhetoric could upset the balance that has maintained a tense peace on the Korean peninsula for decades.

They were unnerved by Trump’s speech to the United Nations this week, in which he derided North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as “Rocket Man” and said Kim was “on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime.”
Trump added that the United States would “totally destroy” North Korea in the event of an attack from Pyongyang on the U.S. or its allies.

‘liberals’ – any person with a functioning brain would experience warranted, appropriate fear concerning North Korea – the consequence of Trump’s incompetence and stupidity.

and I'm watching things closely. Well as closely as one can from the outside. I don't blame the "Rocket man" comment on this. I blame the sanctions and the idea that which ever country does not comply with the sanctions we will not do business with is wrong. We are forcing Kim Jong Un in a corner where he has nothing to lose

To quote Albert Einsten "'I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

This man is not a dictator, so the hand-wringing needs to end and he needs to be put in a straight jacket instead of allowing him to push for a truly devastating war. And if Congress lets him get away with this, their children and spouses should be the first to go. This stupid insanity needs to stop. Tillerson also needs to go and grownups need to take over.
