Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is criticizing President Trump for his attacks on NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.
"No matter how many times a football player says, 'I honor our military, but I'm protesting police brutality and racial inequality,' it doesn't matter, Kerr said in an interview on Saturday with ESPN. Nationalists are saying, 'You're disrespecting our flag.' Well, you know what else is disrespectful to our flag? Racism. And one's way worse than the other."
Kerr, whose team announced Saturday it would not visit the White House following its recent NBA championship, said it was far-fetched to expect civil discourse with Trump.
"The idea of civil discourse with a guy who is tweeting and demeaning people and saying the things he's saying is sort of far-fetched," Kerr told ESPN. "Can you picture us really having a civil discourse with him?"

(3,613 posts)Why not just hold up signs on the sidelines that says no police brutality, no justice, no peace, BLM, etc? Or shout slogans as you walk onto the field. Ie a more traditional method of protest, which would be easier to communicate. Freedom of speech should protect it.

Pro sports is a second media channel to reach America outside the normal news channels (which have been neutralized by right wing media, via accusations of bias and bothsidesism).
If enough players speak up, the sports media can sink Trump.
