Jaguars, Ravens players kneel during anthem in response to Trump's criticism (VIDEO)

BY BRANDON CARTER - 09/24/17 09:45 AM EDT

Multiple players on the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars knelt during the playing of the national anthem Sunday at the first NFL game since President Trump’s criticism of players taking a knee.

Video and photos posted to Twitter shows players kneeling and locking arms as the anthem played.

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan joined his players on the field and linked arms with them before the game began.

Trump has faced intense backlash in recent days from after calling on NFL owners to fire players who kneel during the national anthem.

"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now,'" Trump said at a rally in Alabama on Friday, adding, "'He is fired.'"

Trump’s comments brought strong rebukes against Trump from multiple NFL players, the head of the NFL players’ union and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who called Trump’s comments “divisive” and said they showed a “lack of respect for the NFL.”

I wonder if kneeling will symbolize a protest of Trump, not its original intention, police brutality Not Ruth Sep 2017 #4

TBH, I've been getting a little sick of the jingoistic shit wrapped around the pre-game ceremonies.

Perhaps we should tone it down a little anyway.

It's all related now. He specifically endorsed brutality.
