I was stationed overseas from 1966 to 1969. I seriously
wasn't sure there would be anything worth coming back to.

I already knew all the history. I'm just old enough to remember Nixon's Christmas bombing, and then news showing the people getting on the helicopters.... and, that it was something "we don't talk about".

But I'm having a tough time getting through it.

This should be required as a teaching material in all high schools.

The day of the first lottery drawing I was out with 2 friends. We listened on the radio. They both got high numbers in the 2 and 3 hundreds. I got number 9. They patted me on the back and said "nice knowing you". I was pretty stunned and thought about Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery".
