The NFL is neither a publicly traded company or a government entity.

In my mind, even if it were either of these things, what Trump is doing would still be insane.

If Trump went to my boss and told him that he did not want me to express my beliefs at work, and that my boss should fire me, I would tell Trump to go fuck himself with a rusty meat hook. Any expressive displays that I make at work are between me and my boss, not the president. If my boss violated my constitutional rights, I could take it up with him and him only.

Roger Goodell should tell Trump to piss up a rope, via a tweet. After all, the NFL will either suffer a net loss of fans over this, or they won't. As the republicans like to say, I suppose the NFL market will decide. Anything that Goodell says at this point should not lose the NFL any more fans.

Meanwhile, in Puerto Rico...

The NFL is neither a publicly traded company or a government entity.....

Period. What the NFL allows is their PRIVATE ENTITY business. Cheeto needs to STFU.

are engaging in an extreme moment of cognitive dissonance on ANY AND ALL efforts to tell a PRIVATE ENTITY (the NFL or the NBA, MLB, or other private sports entity) or even remotely weight in on how a PRIVATE ENTITY Contractees (the Players) are allowed to engage in any FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION -- even if such expression is silent expression.

Cognitive Dissonance Is:
"The state of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as relating to behavioral decisions and attitude change."

clearly donnie's in the wrong here, but private companies don't have license to be free from criticism for publicly visible actions they take.

the nfl is more than capable of being on the wrong side of an issue, and then is well-deserving of a public backlash.

moreover, the office of the president of the united states certainly has the right to comment on social issues and such.

mostly, donnie is wrong on substance, not form -- although he did cross a line specifically with the call for firing. that specific action is quite problematic; but to otherwise weigh in on the topic is not in and of itself wrong. it's only wrong because he picked the very, very wrong side.

The point I was trying to make is "let the fans decide".

As to your final point, I think Trump is doing more than "weighing in". He is stirring the shit without mercy. Every minute he spends on this is a minute he is not doing what he was "elected" to do.

From a So-Called Cheeto of the United States that claims to be the "Business (Cheeto) President".

The NFL, MLB, NBA are BUSINESSES that are PRIVATE BUSINESSES. If the Cheeto supports BUSINESSES he should STFU on what the Owners of those businesses entities allow or not allow in their business, the team they own, by the players they contract with, within the facilities they own or co-own etc.

The Cheeto has no right to tell a private business owner what actions their employees (contractors) are allowed to take as it relates to Freedom of Expression. PERIOD.

That is the issue and to make it out to be anything different is an extreme distraction.

but consider carefully where you want the line drawn on this.

can a president (please not this particular one) comment on bakeries who want to "express their views" by denying service to gay customers, or businesses whose policies or advertising discriminate or offends?

A MAJORITY of the PLAYERS in the NBA, MLB, NFL are People of Color (AFRICAN-AMERICAN & LATINO) who Contract as players with a MAJORITY of Caucasian Owners as in the leagues of sports they own. The PLAYERS who are Contractors -- support their families (a majority of the time) well on the pay from their contracted work (via their play on the field) provided to these owners --- with great STRESS on their bodies.

With that, no one is stupid here UNBLOCK.

Everyone knows full well what CHEETO was TARGETING. It was these majority POC CONTRACTED PLAYERS ability to make a living in the sports they are Professionals in -- because they choose to engage in a FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION in a PRIVATELY HELD ENTITY -- called either the NBA, NFL, MLB or any other Sport.

That is the point. Cheeto needs to STFU about it as the PRIVATE OWNERS of these Sports Businesses -- who are MAJORITY Caucasian -- have SPOKE UP and allowed for these POC Contracted Players to engage in a FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION which is their U.S. CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.

Let's not spin it any other way!

The issues are the RACE of the Contractor Players, the Fact the Caucasian OWNERS have allowed their Contracted Players to engage in silent means of Freedom of Expression, the fact the So-Called Cheeto of the United States is attempting to cause a CULTURE WAR about it -- along with Hurt or Eliminate these POC Players Salaries because of their Constitutionally Freedom of Expression RIGHT - in the Private Businesses of the NFL, MLB, NBA and any other Sports they play within. That's it, That's All and It Is NOT Right. Period.

i'm not going to say something that prevents the next president (please please please a democrat!) from later criticizing some right-wing private business for discriminating or offending.

yes, donnie was doing this to distract, to offend, to try to get targeted black people fired, to stifle dissent, etc.

donnie's statements were wrong on many levels.

i'm just not going to say it's 100% always wrong for the potus to criticize a private business, because it's not *always* wrong to do so.

When the issue is based on Race -- and in this case Race, Class, Means of Income and Business. Always.

That is what this issue is about and anyone that has two ears and eyes to see -- can see just that, exactly.

Your thoughts are YOUR THOUGHTS and Ours are Ours.

Have a great day.

seriously, if a private business and its private employees and/or private contractors decide to discriminate *against* blacks, do you really think the next president (again, hopefully a democrat) should be silent about it???

please don't handicap the next democratic president in the fight for equality just because *this* one is abusing his office to do horrible things.
