I'm thinking about not going to any more baseball games.

I'm not really a fan -- I go with my GF when she takes her grandson. I don't mind going, but it's never my first choice of things to do. I never had an issue with standing with my hand over my heart when the Star-spangled Banner plays. (Yeah, I know there are better songs, but you go to the game with the anthem you have, not the one you want.)

But now -- I feel if I do the traditional thing, I'm pledging loyalty to Twitler, but if I do something else, I'll drag the kid into some nastiness that he doesn't want or deserve or even understand.

Thanks, Trump.

It (anthem) isn't part of the game after all and isn't THAT what you are going for?

If this whole kerfuffle ends up with a sizable group of people taking a piss during the anthem?

If you snipe last minute tickets on Stub Hub, you will probably save money, it is just a game anyway.

we both remained seated during the anthem.

Neither of us is fond of phony jingoism.

Teach your kid about the unalterable fact that the basis of the United States was formed under white oppressive hatred of non-whites, and the anthem celebrates that hatred. By kneeling, you will show your son the strong progressive response to such debilitating racist, misogynistic thinking.

In short, #Takeaknee

it's great for people to take the opportunity to send a message about justice. But, likewise, we can't cede "being an American" to the far right. It's OUR country!!!! Sing out loud and clear!!
