in the 60's we were instructed to take a knee to to protect as much of our body as possible from injury and to signal to police that we were not the aggressors but were marching peacefully. My recollection from those days is that taking a knee often calmed things down. In many religions, taking a knee is a sign of respect.

The flag, the anthem, and the military are being used as cover for their racism.


John Lewis is correct. Taking a knee - A long tradition of peaceful protest. Of respectful protest. Treatment far better than African-Americans were (and are) given.
