Puerto Rico...a strange idea

You know, with their power infrastructure pretty much destroyed, a smart clean energy company or a couple of them working together, could have an opportunity to install a smart grid with renewable energy that could power the entire island or close to it.

It would be a new installation, essentially, which takes away the costs of conversion.

Wouldn't that be a cool thing?

Its also a small enough place to make use of electric cars.

Yeah, I know it won't happen, but some day we could all be using renewable energy and it has to start someplace.

The island is bankrupt and in economic turmoil. They'd make more money installing this electric grid in a booming US state, or a country like Germany/UK/Australia. Corporations don't bother with poorly run states like Puerto Rico.

but it could be sold as an example, a test case, if you will.

And yeah, I know it will never happen.

If they were a state, it could be done. Sad to say it, but the only Caribbean islands with any sort of good infrastructure and economies are tax havens. :/ There just isn't a whole hell of a lot going on down there, economically.

That companies in the field you mention would take well over a month to design said infrastructure. Then the would have to assemble and train people.

I like your thoughts but they will do what gets power up the quickest.
