WH Scrambles to Show Trump Is Concerned About Puerto Rico.

Guess someone finally told him that they are in fact US CITIZENS. Now he blames slow response because they are in the middle of the ocean. FFS!

I think most people know that. The airports were closed and put out of commission. Far, far different than TX or FL when a disaster occurs. The hurricanes in TX, FL and elsewhere in the U.S. did not destroy land travel to those areas which is the most efficient way of disaster relief. Also the states' power infrastructure is far more hardened against weather than PR.

What federal officials visiting the island have found: 42 percent of Puerto Rico’s population is without drinking water. Eighty percent of the island’s electrical transmission system ― its substations and transmission lines ― and 100 percent of its distribution system was damaged by the storm, said Lt. Col. Jamie Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.

As of late Tuesday, 21 of Puerto Rico’s 69 hospitals had some functionality. The remaining 48 hospitals had an unknown status, Davis said.

During a Q and A session about cruising, someone asked about the situation in Puerto Rico. They were told that Carnival had two ships loaded with water and supplies en route to Puerto Rico. Normally, that would be a normal stop for some of their cruises but since that won't be happening for some time, they have the ships to use for helping in the disaster. I would imagine other cruise lines may be doing something similar. I hope so!

And many of the people who live there are dependent on the tourists for their livelihood. The cruise lines can be helpful in saving lives, as well as try to get business back up and running for everyone. I am sure Puerto Rico will be unable to sustain tourism for some time but I am hopeful the companies that do business there will try to help any way they can.

We also have the Seabees and the Red Horse teams. They build stuff and they build it in a hurry. I'll take that back. Hurry is their default; needs be and they have it built yesterday. They can do it under combat conditions and in waste lands.

Another question. I just read that it will take the ships 5 days to reach their destination then you say another two to make the docking facilities. That will make it 14 days total with little aid. 45 waited 6 days to even bother to respond other than a few FEMA on the ground. How many are going to die, sarge? This is devastating. There are 3.5 million American citizens waiting for their country to aid them. The President failed them. Guess it is up to you guys now.

The message needs to be simple: Vote D up and down every ballot that comes one's way.
