The COVFEFE Act has the purpose of declaring social media posts of POTUS to be official statements with respect to the Presidential Records Act.

Former WH Press Secretary Sean Spicer has said that tweets of POTUS are official statements.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has used a similar line of reasoning when deciding on the muslim travel-ban.



Why is this important?
If the COVFEFE Act were passed, Trump deleting old tweets would be illegal.
