Trump on why they won't lift the Jones Act.

"Cuz shipping industry threw a tantrum."

Absolutely unbelievable.

Shipping industry supports #JonesAct b/c it's protectionist. #PuertoRico deserves better than policy decisions driven by special interests.

apparently either donnie or the shipping industry wasn't nearly as bothered by a waiver when those states were affected.

of holding Puerto Rico up for ransom to get rid of the Jones Act altogether. It's been a wet dream of republicans and corporate interests alike. Jones Act shipping is heavily Unionized.

The way it works is that if US Flag ships are not available, they can waive it.

Yes they like it in general, but they aren't idiots. This is disaster relief. How long will the Jones Act last if people think it means nobody will come help you in a disaster?

They did oppose lifting the Jones Act. It was lifted for Harvey, Irma and Katrina and if they objected then, nobody cared at all. All of a sudden it matters with Puerto Rico. Idiots.

And them shipping companies are full of rich white folk.

That is how he thinks, and that is how his 50 Million voters think.

So what if a few brown folk die.

THEY DON'T CARE. THEY SIMPLY DON'T CARE.

We care and are Aghast and Heart Broken. Shocked and Angry.

I am sorry, but this is how I see things now. I wasn't alsways like this. But I am ashamed of so many of my Neighbors and Country Men.

And I think it gets worse, way worse, before it gets better.
