General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI honestly don't care what positions Alabama Democrat Doug Jones takes on ANYTHING.
There are no issues I'm not willing to "throw under the bus" in order to keep the evil, twisted Roy Moore from being a Senator.
Doug Jones, whoever the heck you are, I am giving to your campaign!
ON EDIT: I"ve already donated through Act Blue.

(21,946 posts)is better than a republican. republicans are evil. They are like a case of small pox. Nothing redeeming about either, and both can kill you.

(24,329 posts)Jones prosecuted Thomas Blanton and Bobby Cherry, two members of the Ku Klux Klan, for their roles in the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing.
The case was reopened the year before Jones was appointed, but did not pick up traction until his appointment.
A grand jury was called in 1998 which piqued Cherry's ex-wife, Willadean Cherry's, attention and led her to calling the FBI to report her testimony. Willadean then introduced Jones to family and friends who reported their own experiences from the time of the bombing.
A key piece of evidence was a tape from the time of the bombing in which Blanton stated that he had had to meet up with others to make the bomb. Jones was deputized in order to argue in state court and was able to indict Blanton and Cherry in 2000

(45,442 posts)doesn't matter how liberal. Some DUers hunt for reasons to help us lose. Especially in red states or very competitive races for open seats.

(4,898 posts)Dude is off the chain crazy. Democrats need to put resources (political operatives as well as money) into Jones' campaign.
Its a long shot (frankly, extreme long shot), but I think this seat could be flipped if all the cards and stars align right. Other than Gov and state races in VA and NJ, what other campaigns are taking place between today and December?

(2,748 posts)when Democrats who are now getting elected in red states need to vote the way we dont like sometimes. Ex: Joe Mansion
I get angry at stuff he says sometimes and his chumming around with Trump, but we have to remember that he may be doing what he needs to do keep that seat for the Democrats. I'll hate it when they vote some gun control measure down, but they will be there to vote the right way on some things at least. Better than having a Republican vote 100% the way McConnel or Ryan tell them to.

(45,442 posts)Ill take those values to the U.S. Senate and work hard for all the people of Alabama:
Everyone has the right to quality, affordable health care.
We must restore Alabamas trust for its elected leaders.
I will defend a womans right to choose and stand with Planned Parenthood.
All children deserve a first-class education regardless of where they live.
College must be affordable without burdening a student with overwhelming debt.
I believe in science and will work to slow or reverse the impact of climate change.
It is past time we raise the minimum wage to a livable wage.
Women must be paid an equal wage for equal work at all levels.
Voter suppression is unAmerican we must protect voting rights.
Discrimination cannot be tolerated or protected. America is best when it builds on diversity and is welcoming of the contributions of all.
He's got a fighting chance. Should be liberal enough for even the most pretentious ivory tower elitists around here.
