He listed some last night with Colbert but, as someone who was involved in politics back then, there are many, many more to me - the most important of which is this blind dive into catastrophe some voters and so-called leaders are willing to take for the very worst of reasons. And your choice of of a quote is a good one because many of our current problems are based on people being completely ignorant but having the arrogance to not recognize their ignorance - again based on the most venal of reasons.

So much in the series is directly applicable today.

1966, and showing what motivated a lot of people ...guys, actually...to WANT to join and fight that war.

I appreciate the insight, since I could not see it at the time.

Am finding that my memories of that whole era are still pretty intact.

Which really says a lot of how little we have learned.

I did find it helpful when he explained where the derogatory names came from: gook, etc. Never knew that.
