I do not understand why more people didn't oppose the Iraq War before it started.
I wrote my congress people and senators before the infamous vote to allow Bush to do what he wanted, strongly asking them to vote against it. I received replies from all of them. One senator and one congressman did indeed vote nay. I like to think my letter helped persuade them.
It saddens me that more didn't vote nay.

Because if you could perform that feat
Youd take pleasure in your behind
Id like to say eat shit and die
But you deserve much more
You should suffer all the grief and pain
Of your misbegotten war
Though I can never make you feel
Or think, or understand
Ill take solace when you hear your name
Cursed throughout the land
From inside a lonely prison cell
Dark and bare and cold
Where every day you pay for your crimes
Till youre sick, heartbroken, and old
And when you finally leave the earth
You fucked over oh so well
If there is a God and afterlife
Youre going straight to hell.

(47,992 posts)One of my strongest points of view is our own responsibility for what happened, EVERY ounce of that personal responsibility needs to be owned, even amongst the peace community, but even still . . .
He was the one man who had the power to make it stop or go, for all of our shortcomings, it was still he who was "the decider". If he had not been who/what he is, this would not have happened.

(5,198 posts)arrest, there seems to be nothing we can do about this criminal. The message to us is, just move forward, there is nothing we can do about these fuckers. But I firmly maintain that it would heal a gigantic wound not only in our country but internationally if we were to actually practice a form of justice that holds up to the laws of the land. Otherwise our laws only apply sometimes, to people who cannot afford a lawyer.

(5,198 posts)but I really believe that somehow this is 'off limits' to President Obama. I think there is big money behind the protection of these fuckers. (Hereafter they will be known as fuckers). This is old money, the Bush cartel, CIA, drug running, all this dirty stuff that scares most people off from pursuing it.
These are the real sociopaths, the ones that put out hits on people they don't like. They are the pinnacle of what a bully can aspire to, they get away with murder and like it.
I think that what this country--and world needs to decide en masse--is what to do with sociopaths in power. I don't know how many times I have actually typed this.
patrice
(47,992 posts)understood that the vote in 2000 was stolen and some very strange things happened in 2004 too.
I understand their rationale for being as you describe, but I don't like that that is the way it is and I'm afraid I don't see a way to make their concerns invalid, other than to work for a better foundation AT THE BOTTOM in the grassroots, to make TPB more extraneous.
It would be better for all of us to do something about Bush at least, even if it isn't official, maybe it would even be better that way, unofficial, more of a fuck you for the people, more independent, more about us for us.
felix_numinous
(5,198 posts)I wonder if a petition could be raised on a national (if not international level), for example; "The People of the United States vs. GW Bush'. I wonder if it would grow legs.
The idea that a few people can abuse power needs to change--and the way to do this is, just like the way the Occupy Movement has shown, that en masse we can be very powerful, especially when NO ONE PERSON can be targeted, when we all act together. These people abuse power by going against individuals, and I wonder what would happen if we used this concept to act.
Just my 2 cents, I like the way you think patrice

Not knowing how someone may feel because of something you did, is a warning sign a psychopath is looming. Not knowing leads to not a care in the world. (7,401 posts)What a long, strange drain the Throwbacks have dragged this nation down. Citizens United has made them a heavier stone around the necks of good people than ever before in American history. Ignorance is indeed incredibly expensive.
Did we really live through all that?
What a pompus little squirt of a murderous torturing criminal.

So I guess said fucker was saving that little secret for this book because he only managed 2.5% during his entire 8 years. Who is he trying to kid?!? Although he IS a typical Republican--full of contempt for us and treating us like we're idiots.

(35,724 posts)Would be if bush had to live out the pain of everyone in the photographs: the person who died, the people who grieved, the people who had to make things right after those lives were erased.
And it wouldn't just be the lives in these pictures. It would be all of them, every single one. He will have an eternity to do it.
One after another, until he gets the idea of why pain should not be needlessly inflicted.

(9,350 posts)What he said was sad. For him to say that his eight years in office were "awesome" because he was "famous" and "powerful" without seeming to have any sadiness or remorse considering everything that happened during his time in office is, once again, sad. There was Katrina, Iraq, Afghanistan, 9/11, a CIA spy being outed, and an economic meltdown. Those things were not "awesome". There may even be other things that I do not remember.
However, this quote seems to confirm what some people have said about President Bush for years. He does not seem to care about other people. I not sure he could have said this if he actually cared about other people.

(9,958 posts)Your nonrational emotions are clouding your ability to reason.
If these things were so harmful, there would be laws enacted to prohibit these actions; punishing those who violate the laws and deterring those who would consider violating the laws.
Since those with rational authority to enforce the laws have not prosecuted or punished anyone in the Bush administration, it must be concluded that no laws were violated, and that no actions committed by the Bush administration resulted in any harm being caused.
To think otherwise is letting your emotions get the best of you.
Plus, to succumb to the infantile demands for prosecution is neither realistic nor pragmatic.

There cannot be any depth, any level to their shame, and the depths they dragged our country down into their slime. how could those 5 black robes and 59 million americans be so dumb to allow that shame stain our country and history. I am so nauseated that they have crawled out from under their slime pits to show their faces, again.

The night before the burial of her husbands body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of Cat, and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it, she said. I think thats what he would have wanted.

(13,873 posts)maybe I'm just older than you, but in my 20's there were three things I was pretty sure about: I would not live to see the end of the Soviet Empire; there would never be a black President or even a legitimate black candidate for President in my lifetime; and Richard Nixon would be the worst President in history. Very glad I was wrong on the first two, and very sad that Nixon or Reagon, whoever is worse, comes in a distant second.

Thirty eyes seeking quietness.
Bald heads that gape from out of the prison.
The holiness of the suffering, which is none of my business...

Id like to stay here, a small patient...
Then Id like to live
And go back home again
