I'm worried about a certain someone "capitalizing" on this horrible shooting.

(10,362 posts)Skinner needs to take out the race baiting trash on this site. The bodies aren't even cold and you're obsessed with race. Take a long hard look at your life to examine what went wrong.

(19,818 posts)There is plenty on empathy here.
Most of us don't want any more anti- Muslim hate by the bigots .
We don't want maggot in chief and his minions to milk this tragic incident any more than he will to distract from his failures.
It is a given most of us are banging our heads against a wall with another mass shooting incident.

(26,142 posts)I agree with him/her -- this is a tragedy, but if the shooter had been black or Arabish, it would have been used as race and xeno baiting.

(17,459 posts)Just got word that a friend of mine died.
Don't lash out at people that mean you no harm.
Your post irritated me slightly the entire morning.
OK, I'm off to take a hard look at my life.
Really...don't do that anymore. One day you will throw somebody over the edge. then how will you feel?

(10,391 posts)Of course Trump will post some stupid tweet and make unfounded accusations. Don't be Trump. I'd delete your post before jury does it for you.

(17,459 posts)I was pretty clear in what I said.
I'm worried about months and months of anti "other" tweets if the shooter is anything but white.
And I'm worried about the rage that will be stirred up by said tweets.
Someone (not you) suggesting that I am "worried about race" or not empathetic is missing my point.
I don't know how to explain it any better.

The recent church shooting barely got a mention here. Not difficult to understand why.

I remember when that asshat shot a reporter and cameraman in Virginia.
Posters were having field day, then the shooter was identified and poof! No more threads.

(4,558 posts)any other of the right wing news sources who will be more than happy to hit up the topic 24 hours a day and completely propagandize it to institutionalize it as part of a minority stereotype.
About the only thing that won't get play on those sources is the perp being a white male with conservative group ties. Then they'll be "violence on many sides", and "some good people".
So yes, we will shine more light on it if it's one of the people that they always try to whitewash.
And if it does turn out to be another one of those where those same said "news" sources try to stereotype entire minority groups on? We will defend the minority groups.
One big difference between us? We won't try to defend the shooter regardless. We'll just defend the minority group being demonized by the right.
Thanks for 'splainin that for me.

(4,484 posts)This is so awful. There will be time for everything else later. Right now we just need to pray, or if you aren't religious then send positive vibes, to the people in Vegas with all of our might.
As a juggler who was performing in a gay nightclub in NC on the same night as the Orlando massacre, this brings back some of the harrowing thoughts that ran through my mind that night.
I just pray that the death toll doesn't go up.

(4,035 posts)The shooter is a man, and he will most likely have a history of domestic violence. Regardless of race, age, religion - he will have a history of domestic violence somewhere in his past or present. I bet the woman they are seeking can tell a thing or two about that, and any ex-wives and ex-girlfriends. Men who don't respect women have no compunction in seeing parts of humanity as less than themselves,a nd therefore no problems shooting them dead.
A history of domestic violence should be a red flag in anyone's files, and bar them from ever touching a weapon.
