4. Yes, but I have noticed...they wait and say nothing for a few days to a week..

Nothing comes out of them for a while. We have sympathy for the victims they say....I remember the shooting at the grammar school. They waited 4 days, then they came out with their usual bull sh*t.."it was the shooter, not the guns"...but watch..maybe it will be longer this time..maybe 5 days to a week, so many killed and injured...But after a while...it will be the same crap it is all the time..

3. Not to be morbid or pedantic, but I wonder how many injured in the stampede?

Seems as if this a a trend create panic and mayhem at venues to cause a stampede

You only need one terrorist to inflict panic and fear on thousands

"all the concert-goers were armed.
This would have never happened."

I'm waiting for that one.

6. The rest of the world...

... must think we are insane. Mass shootings, a POTUS who threatens nuclear war while, for days, hardly lifting a finger to help millions of citizens in PR, any of us could fill pages with evidence of "insanity". What ever happened to the second amendment's requirement for "... a well REGULATED militia..."? NRA and their ilk conveniently forget that.

8. You have stated something I've never seen....."REGULATED"......emphasis on that word

..."Regulated"....The idea of "regulations" on the militia is never discussed when discussing gun control..
It is always left out. If we could get the founders of this nation together, and they were very bright, they would definitely be in favor of strong "regulations" on guns if they knew what would be coming 200 years later.
Now, there is no way to know, but the indications are that is what they would be in favor of..
.........What are the indications?

....The founders were in favor of control on the power of the Presidency..(checks and balances)
....Control of Congress..(laws must be passed, exactly the same in both houses), and money laws must start in the House of Representatives...
.....etc.

The will to restrict future gun purchases just isn't there. Sure, this is an awful tragedy, but it won't stop the gun humpers from preventing legislation restricting the purchase of guns.

Even if the will is there, there's just too much money at stake, and legislators are bought and paid for. They are not going to betray their funders. And thousands of deaths aside, the NRA is not going to close its doors.

There are just too many guns in circulation. There's no way to retrieve even a small percentage.

Not only that, but gun owners own this problem. The solution lies with them... I am waiting for it (but not holding my breath).

13. One of the memes going around

is a quote from Sen. Chris Murphy (CT) to the effect that Congress has to get off its fat asses and do something.

Can't disagree with the anger.

But what?

I know I sound like a doomsayer. But what?

Sure, legislation might slow down the gun buying process from this point onward.

From Slate: A November 2012 Congressional Research Service (my note - after the Sandy Hook shooting) report found that, as of 2009, there were approximately 310 million firearms in the United States: “114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns.” However, author William J. Krouse went on to note that “data are not available on the number of ‘assault weapons’ in private possession or available for sale, but one study estimated that 1.5 million assault weapons were privately owned in 1994.”

Great way to legislate - with decades old data.

Yes, I know, Republicans blocked CDC research which might have resulted in, I don't know, something - better data? vaccines? Republicans have sown 40 years and hate and fear. And RW media reinforces it every minute of every day. How do you combat that? And that assault weapons ban? Wanna bet that even after Las VEgas that would not stand a chance of passing?

IN any case, prepare to be sickened by what comes from the RW and the NRA.
