TPM - "White House: Premature To Talk Gun Control In Wake Of Las Vegas Shooting"

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/sanders-premature-political-debate-guns

By MATT SHUHAM Published OCTOBER 2, 2017 2:39 PM

At least 58 people died when a man shot out of his 32-floor hotel window at a massive outdoor concert Sunday night, according to police. The alleged shooter, Stephen Craig Paddock, killed himself, police said.

“Has this particular massacre made the President think anything more about pursuing tighter gun laws such as background checks to prevent a massacre like this from happening again?” Reuters’ Jeff Mason asked Sanders at a press briefing Monday.

Sanders said that “there’s a time and place for a political debate, but now is the time to unite as a country.”

“There’s currently an open and ongoing law enforcement investigation,” she said. “A motive is yet to be determined, and it would be premature for us to discuss policy when we don’t fully know all of the facts or what took place last night.”

do either just now, I'm afraid. We're sort of out of power at the moment.

Maybe we should think about how to regain that in 2018 and 2020. We don't seem to be looking forward, and that will be a huge mistake.

what it all comes down to.

the NRA decided that case and the court we have today has as many if not MORE NRA staffers on it.

If 90% want background checks but Neil Gorsuch and friends dont, then we will fuck off and they will do what they want.
