Ok, Dakota Meyer is a Medal of Honor winning Marine who was trained to persevere under fire. And he did. As much as I may deride his in-laws, the Palins, I have immense respect for Dakota Meyer.
But Dan Bilzerian probably reacted the way so many of us would. Bilzerian, it seems, tried and failed to qualify to be a Navy SEAL, and there may be a reason he failed. Some people have the kind of courage and fortitude it takes, some people don't. I would probably have run, too. At least until the shooting stopped, which is what it looks like he did.
However, being clear headed enough to FILM yourself running away - I find that that kind of bewildering, but then I'm a bit of a luddite, when it comes to social media and video taping.
Anyway, here's the article from the notorious Daily Mail. They may be a tabloid, but they do jump in, with both feet, when news like this breaks.

Some guy is hosing down a crowd with machine guns from a skyscraper, the best thing you can do is get the hell out, and deny him targets. Get yourself and as many people as possible to safety is the only defense against this.
Selfie videos could be useful if they are documenting the last second of you life, or help identify where the killer was.

(706 posts)Nothing wrong in your wording. My "stupid post" remark was kind of directed at what Dakota said.
They say there was 22,000 people there. Probably 21,400 ran. The people that didn't run were dead or injured, and the police, and people that had a loved one shot next to them and stayed to help or comfort them despite the risk. Everyone else ran, especially when the police started telling them to run.
If Dakota were there with family he would have been wise to grab his kids and tell his wife to run and make sure they all got to cover. If he were alone, who knows. I sure knew people in the service that would have laid on top of an injured person to try and protect them, or pick them up and carry them to safety. His MoH suggest he would have, but like I said, he wasn't there and I can't criticize anyone for running.

(26,291 posts)I think Dakota has caught some sort of virus, from the Palins, that induces arrogant verbal spewings.
