(18,837 posts)Felt the same way about Tom that I did about Lemmy...I just thought he was always going to be there, an album every year or two, touring endlessly, just...there.
I think it was the simplicity, more than anything else, that made him a legend. He was just a kid from the South who said "I'm going to be a rock & roll star," and he made it happen. Makes me think of Elvis driving that truck for Crown Electric, and one day he just pulled it to the curb, took out the keys, and said "I'm not driving this truck any more."
That was Tom. Simplicity, vision, determination, and that fire inside.
Still hasn't sunk in 100%.
