Consequences

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to horrific incidents like the massacre in Las Vegas. Republicans don’t care how many guns they put in the hands of potential murderers, or even the mentally ill. They consistently block any attempts to legislate sensible gun-control laws. If you help put them in office, you’re helping to put guns into the hands of those who might eventually kill your fellow citizens.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to the denial of affordable healthcare to the sick and the dying. Republicans don’t care how many people suffer and die for lack of healthcare coverage. They have consistently tried to repeal Obamacare and replace it with a plan that offers less coverage at a more expensive price, while leaving millions of Americans without any coverage at all. If you help put them in office, you’re helping to condemn your fellow citizens to ill health and death.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to millions of American women being denied their right to control their own bodies. They don’t care how many women are forced to give birth to a baby they cannot afford, a fetus they know to be unviable, even those conceived as a consequence of rape or incest. If you help put them in office, you are helping to keep women “in their place” as second-class citizens whose lives are under the control of old white men.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to the decline of our education system. They don’t care how many of our country’s future leaders are completely bereft of any knowledge of science, math, geography, or history. They have consistently cut funding for our schools, and insist on promoting textbooks that are full of non-facts, and a revisionist view of our own country’s past. If you help put them in office, you are helping to keep our children ignorant and unable to compete with well-eduacted children around the world.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to the failure of the international diplomacy that keeps our nation safe. They don’t care how many of our sons and daughters are sent to fight wars – and they certainly don’t care how many of our veterans are left without aid when they return from those battles physically injured and mentally broken. They have consistently supported military conflict, and have profited by it. If you help put them in office, you are helping to put our best and brightest in harm’s way, knowing they will be dismissed as expendable when they return home.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to the suffering of our most vulnerable citizens – the sick, the elderly, the poor, and the homeless. They don’t care if people literally die in the streets, as long as they do so out-of-sight and without too much negative publicity. They have consistently promoted laws that make feeding the hungry illegal, and make being homeless a crime. If you help put them in office, you are helping to put the down-and-out in jeopardy, in jail – or worse.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to the demise of our nation. They have consistently tried to undermine the values and principles that unite us as fellow Americans, and instead promote division among us. If you help put them in office, you are helping to establish a nation that is divided against itself – a nation that ultimately cannot stand.

If you support, donate to, canvass for, and/or vote for Republicans, you are contributing to everything they are doing to destroy the idea that all Americans are created equal, that we are stronger united than divided, that accepting people of different religions, different ethnicity, and different cultures is our strength rather than our weakness.

I, for one (and I am confident that I am not alone), have been sickened by Republican supporters who are now crying fake tears over the dead in Las Vegas, as though their votes to put Republicans in positions of power – the same Republicans who insist that anyone, regardless of their mental stability, should have unfettered access to weapons created for the sole purpose of inflicting as much death and destruction as possible – are somehow not responsible for the consequences those votes have led to.

Cry me a river, GOP voters – but I ain’t buying. Keep pretending that your support of a party that is destroying our nation is without consequence. Keep telling yourself that your vote for Republicans didn’t lead to what happened in Las Vegas. Keep telling yourself that you are blameless when your fellow citizens die at the hands of a political party bent on putting weapons into the hands of anyone they hope might vote for them based on their pro-gun stance.

Keep telling yourself that you are appalled by the deaths you contributed to by electing politicians who don‘t give a shit how many people die as a result of their policies, and keep pretending you give a shit about those people yourselves, because you obviously don’t – and everyone knows it.

So spare us the boo-hoo-hooing – you aren’t fooling anyone with your fake tears, your feigned outrage, your pretense that you had no idea that the party you support isn't the least bit interested in the welfare of your fellow citizens.

You can take your fake sympathy and shove it up your ass - the same place where your heads were when you voted for Republicans in the first place.

You state it much better than I do and without every other word being "fuck" and "GOP". I was so loud that my neighbor heard me as he was taking out his trash. He is a Dem and a teacher too and we are thoroughly sick of this shit. Teachers have so much to deal with already and whenever we hear about this again and again and again we take a special interest and viewpoint.

Not with a bang, but a whimper.

Nance, you are verbalizing the bang we need. Like a previous commenter, I have trouble talking about the GOP and those who vote GOP without "fucking idiots" or other vile expressions.

I like the movie Mississippi Burning. Hackman says "These people crawled out of the sewer. Many the gutter is where we need to be."

GOP is a criminal conspiracy leeching from our nation. FUCK THE GOP!

.... you are preaching to the choir. How do we get this message out to those who would never ever view this venue? These are people who watch Faux and Fiends, for Pete's sake! I spent 29 years with the Air Force--the most right-wing of all services. Trust me, there is no way to reach these people. Even when The Orange Buffoon is sitting in prison, they will just hate us even more, bleating about how he was railroaded by the evil Left.
