so, my sister, is now a trumpian.

she voted for Hillary but is now a trumpian.

let that sink in.

my sister has a long history of mental illness.

when on her meds, she is one of the funniest, most intelligent people you will ever meet.

but when she is off her meds: steer clear. she become an arrogant argumentative know it all.

because of her on again off again use of her meds, there were times in my life that I stopped having contact with her to preserve my own sanity.

well, this time, I get this very bizarre and insane email from her tearing Puerto Rico a new one up and down because, as she stated, 'those people are pigs".

Little does she know that my sister in law is Puerto Rican and has family in Puerto Rico.

Needless to say, I was very hurt and disturbed by her email.

So I contact my other sister and ask her, is our sister off her meds or has she gone all trumpian?

She wrote me back and side, "both. I'm not touching that email with a ten foot pole".

Knowing how my now trumpian sister can be when off her meds, now as before, I have decided that it's for the best not to contact her now or in the long term.

I just find it interesting. When shes on her meds, she's rational, liberal, easy to talk to and funny as hell. when off her meds, she's a nut job right wing crazy to the tenth power.

I just thought I would share this odd personal antic-dote.

cheers.

I am sure there is a lot of people every where that have un-diagnosed mental conditions.

I didn't know until my grandma moved closer to me in her 90s that she had social anxiety disorder. Once she was on the right and consistent meds it was amazing at how she could function. It totally explained why she would always drink and smoke so much everyday since that is how she could function un-medicated.

"I'm not touching that email with a ten foot pole".

Sorry, but I think that's the wrong approach. For too long, I stayed silent and ignored, or just let Conservative Bullshit pass as a means to be "civil".

The election of Donnie Short Fingers convinced me that I could no longer just ignore this shit.

Every time I get some crazy wingnut shit, I hit reply all and try to give them the Literary Equivalent of "Go Fuck Yourself".

For too long, the fact that I didn't stand up, fight back and counter this crap resulted in acquiescing and "normalizing" the abnormal.

Guess what, the people that used to send me that Stormfront shit (and it's all Stormfront shit...even the stuff that comes from Faux News ends up there anyway)...don't send me that shit anymore. And the one's that do, get a prompt punch-back.

I'm not worried about harming the little snowflake feelings, and you shouldn't either.

there is no way in hell to have a normal conversation with her.

it's as if she doesn't even hear a single word anyone else says that might be in the very least contrary to her un-medicated beliefs.

it's just a complete one track mind.

when a person with a mental issue, such as my sisters, there is no talking or reasoning or contrary opinions.

they just don't exist in her world.

unless you have dealt with someone with this kind of mental disorder, you have no idea what it's like.

you would have more success talking to a concrete wall.

it's really that bad.

My brother is a fucking trumpy. His grandson was recently diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Only reason the kids mom has health insurance is because she could stay on her dads insurance until 26 due to the ACA.

Doesn't matter. My brother still loves him some Trump and Retrumplicans.

If the prospect of your own grandchild facing crushing medical debt isn't enough to open your eyes, you're a lost cause.

My reply all to his ignorant emails isn't for him. It's for the others in the address line so that they know their stupid shit won't go unanswered... and it's therapy for me.

Of course, responding to their stupid shit keeps me busier than a cat covering it's poop on a linoleum floor, but hey... I'm retired

Who was progressive and analytical but slowly began to lose it. She started listening to Alex Jones and now sees false flags, black ops. everywhere: Columbine, Aurora, Newtown. I cut off communication with her when she denied the Holocaust. It's heart-breaking. I miss my old friend.

A loose thread to begin with, and some thing or person, Fox or Jones, whatever, becomes the catalyst for the unraveling. It is sad.

He's got a multi-million dollar business and like 4 degrees - one of the smartest people I know. Except when it comes to politics - he's a right wing, batshit crazy ultra religious conspiracy theory loving buffoon. What is it about right wing politics that turns smart people into animals? Fox News? Their church?

We're not privy to until it boils up, reaches out, and smacks us up-side the head.

I believe it is a product of the RWer's extreme paranoia that this discussion occurs in wispered tones in venues where they are assured they are among people who are "like minded". (All of their comfort-isms in place.) So, yes, churches bars restaurants sporting events select "news" outlets... But, absolutely never anywhere where these views can be heard and scrutinized by the general public or by someone who is not visibly one of their own and has passed the ritual tests of their hive mind.

A very self-reinforcing process for filtering out other views and as it turns out often reality itself.
