Banning them is supposed to make the NRA and the gun-humpers seem "reasonable" and "responsible". Banning them is supposed to make the GOP seem "concerned" and "compassionate".
I agree with what former New Jersey Senator Torricelli said this morning on MSNBC: "If this is all that Democrats are willing to settle for, JUST SHUT UP!"
How about banning not just bump stocks, but assault weapons, mechanical triggering devices and magazines that hold more than 10 rounds? And, background checks for everyone before EACH purchase of a firearm from any source.
That would be a start.

In other words, if open carry is allowed on the streets, then open carry should be allowed in the halls of congress and at NRA conventions.
If carrying weapons is prohibited in one venue, then it should be prohibited in all venues.

We have to ban the manufacture, sale, and possession of any non-single shot bolt action rifle.
Handguns should be limited to 6 rounds max... if you haven't stopped your attackers in six rounds, 11 or 13 is unlikely to be the solution, either because you are a horrible shooter or the attacker(s) are simply not impressed.
