So Now We Know Who We Are

With the “election” of Donald Trump, the division between Americans has become more glaringly clear than at any other time in our recent history.

It is not the obvious division between Democrats and Republicans, which we have lived with for decades.

It has now become a division between racists and those who embrace their fellow Americans without regard to skin colour or ethnicity.

It is the division between those who believe women are entitled to their rights and those who believe those rights should be curtailed by the edicts of old white men.

It is the division between Christians who follow Christ’s admonitions to feed the hungry, care for the sick, and shelter the homeless and faux-Christians who seek to end social programs that accomplish exactly what they claim to believe in.

It is the division between those who decry things like Sharia Law and those don't who want to see their own religious beliefs adopted as law.

It is the division between those who believe that ALL citizens have a right to vote and those who want to surpress the votes of any citizen who is likely to disagree with them.

It is the division between those who have the intellectual capacity to recognize Donald Trump as the lying, self-serving, self-absorbed narcissist he IS and those who lack the intellect to know a treasonous con-artist when they see him.

It is the division between those who think a so-called “pResident” should actually KNOW what NATO is, should KNOW what the UN stands for, should KNOW how our government works and those who think ignorance and abject stupidity are presidential traits.

It is the division between those who believe that there are “very fine people” among Nazis, KKK members, and white supremacists and those who believe that such people should have no voice in our national discourse.

It is the division between those who think the office of POTUS should be held by an intelligent, well-informed patriot devoted to the betterment of ALL citizens and those who think that an obvious dumbass who knows sweet fuck-all about anything should be in charge of leading a nation.

It is the division between those who know that tax-cuts for the wealthy result in higher multi-million-dollar bonuses for CEOs and those who think such tax-cuts result in more jobs for the middle-class – all historical evidence to the contrary.

Above all else, it is the division between the well-informed and the hopelessly ignorant. It is the division between those smart enough to see what’s happening to our country and those who have their heads buried up their own asses.

There is no longer any middle ground between those of us who have always stood for a united nation and those who WANT the divisions between us to define us as a country.

Pick a side – and stop pretending that the side that is promoting division between Americans is somehow superior to the side that wants Putin’s bitch to be exposed as the obvious traitor he is.

I am not talking skin tones here. It is as simple as black and white. Clear difference.

Actually, those folks do both. Like you and me, they decry Sharia. But, we're not hypocrites about it.
