Washington (AP) -- Blackwater Worldwide founder Erik Prince is considering a Republican primary challenge to Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, a senior member of the Senate GOP leadership team, in a race that could pit the party's establishment against insurgents fueled by allies of President Donald Trump.
Prince was in Wyoming this weekend to discuss a possible Senate campaign with family members and has been encouraged to run by Steve Bannon, a former top White House strategist to Trump, according to a person who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the private deliberations.
Prince's potential candidacy was first reported by The New York Times. A Barrasso campaign spokesman declined comment and Prince did not immediately comment on the report.

If WY is RW anyway, it might be worth the extra oversight.

(6,043 posts)It is past time to start settling Wyoming and create a solid Democratic state.
Consider: 585 thousand adults and children in a country of 323 million, control 2 senate seats or 2% of the senate.
The chief resource of Democrats: people
The chief problem: distribution of the people
The plan. voluntary and, if needed, subsidized settlement.
An influx of 50,000 to 100,000 voters would change the politics of this state and the entire country.
The stakes: consider that Dick Cheney, architect of the Iraq War, started his career as Congressman from Wyoming and Erik Prince sees it as an easy stroll into the senate, the stakes are high.
Side Effect: Will help environment, help ease transition to alternative energy, support the Democrats already in Wyoming.
Republicans have been thinking outside the box for a long time. They have been building beachheads for decades-a little here, a little there all aimed at preventing progress and building an authoritarian nation.
It is time for Democrats to get creative. The Democratic settlement of Wyoming in the 21st century needs to be on our agenda as one bold initiative in a series of bold new political initiatives.

(40,416 posts)Two of the most evil families on the planet are connected by marriage. Make no mistake, both the Prince and the DeVos families are evil to their cores. On top of that, they are fucking Calvinists, all of them. They believe that no number of good deeds will save one from eternal torment in Hell's fire. We are all predestined at birth. So apparently they just don't bother with the good deeds.
