Death of 8-year-old St. Louis girl investigated (looks like heat)
ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis authorities are investigating the death of an 8-year-old who suffered from an underlying medical condition and was staying in a bedroom with no air-conditioning.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/MOr7Kl ) reported that city health director Pam Walker wouldn't speculate as to the cause of Altamesa Dobson's death Friday. Walker says the girl's underlying medical condition may have played a role.
The girl's mother, Courtney Green, says her family's apartment had window units in the main room. But family members say the girl couldn't easily be moved from her bedroom into the cooler family room because of her health issues.
The city medical examiner's office also is investigating the death Friday of a 43-year-old man who was wearing a fleece sweater and jeans when he collapsed at a bus stop.
