Morning Joe: Trump 'so out of it' he doesn't understand how close he is to impeachment

TRAVIS GETTYS
09 OCT 2017 AT 07:02 ET

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough warned President Donald Trump may be “sealing his own fate” by attacking Republican senators who can not only derail his legislative agenda, but also remove him from office.

The “Morning Joe” host walked through the president’s angry tweets against Sen. Bob Corker, pointing out each of the lies he found, and said the Tennessee Republican’s response showed he was ready to fight Trump.

“Someone should have told the president Corker is not a stooge,” Scarborough said. “He’s not going to back down to your tweets. You’re going to shoot yourself in the foot time and time again, as you did all day.”

Corker slapped back at Trump on Twitter, and he laid out his serious concerns that the president was unstable and unfit in a New York Times interview — and the senator said nearly all of his colleagues agreed.

‘All the warning signs are there’: Morning Joe begs Republicans to remove Trump before he launches nukes

TRAVIS GETTYS
09 OCT 2017 AT 08:42 ET

Republican strategist Steve Schmidt said enough is enough: It’s time for Republican lawmakers to remove President Donald Trump from office before he recklessly provokes nuclear war.

Schmidt told MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough that he wasn’t ready to leave the GOP, as the “Morning Joe” host had, but he urged some of his fellow conservatives to show the same courage and honesty as Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN).

“We have a president who is clearly out of his depth,” Schmidt said. “The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has acknowledged it. Foreign heads of state understand it, as well.”

Scarborough reminded viewers of his warning, first issued in August 2016, about Trump’s fascination with nuclear weapons.

There is no way he was uninvolved in many of the sins of Trump's campaign, transition and administration. As just one example, it is not believable that he was unaware of Flynn's activities. (In the incredible event that Pence didn't know what Flynn was up to, then Pence is a terrible manager.)

Pence wants to destroy America to create a christian, racist, xenophobic nation ruled by billionaire oligarchs who deny any help including healthcare to the poor and middle class. And he's a better politician.

Trump is all need and want and power-seeking and is much easier to outflank.

Pence is a tool of the Koches and is thus highly dangerous.

whatever he does is the focus of the news for that day and sometimes the next.

Pence is a complete 180 from Trump in terms of being able to play the media like fools. The media will focus on his terrible policies and his ties to Trump. He would come into office a severely wounded lame duck and likely would not run for office in 2020 because of his connection to Trump and Russia.

Just out of being the partisan morons they are.

But, the base loves him, and they wouldn't do for that reason above all else, fearing the backlash from them impeaching him, the next election enough of their zombies would not get out to vote that it would probably turn over an epic amount of seats across the country.

If they see nationwide polls that predict with a relative certainty that they will lose their majorities in both houses of Congress, they would impeach, and remove him, for littering. If not, he could act out his threat to shoot someone in broad daylight on 5th Ave, and not lose one vote, just like he predicted. Those (still) out-of-work coal miners in West Virginia could remain jobless, all get cancer and get refused health care, and drink tap water than resembles sulfuric acid in smell and intensity, and not a one of them would vote differently than the way they voted last time. That is the America that Fox Noise has created. A fair number of North Koreans still think they live in paradise, too, and would fight to the death to preserve it. Control people's minds, and you will control their actions as well.

45 is indeed putting himself closer to impeachment, but there are enough GOP idiots in the House to make impeachment very remote.

Perhaps 45 can "win" this one (meaning convince the House to impeach him) and prove me wrong.

Keep it up Orange Moron, you CAN do this. Go after ALL the GOP Reps and Senators. "Win" the arguments and lose the presidency. I'm with you on this one!

8 Republicans and 25 Democrats up for re-election, including 10 Democrats in states that Trump won. Only way it happens is if we get an all-time epic level wave election. Republicans have too much outside money and voter suppression tactics to lose a net 3 seats.

Now, if somebody like Collins, Murkowski or Graham switched parties, it would help.

Whatever GOP bills an impeached Pence can sign into law, Ryan can sign into law.

And so on and so forth. The Republican Party does not need Trump to do their bidding. There's a long line of succession that allows them to destroy America without his participation.

Impeach him, then lock him up. Rinse. Repeat.

Trump's at a historic low in approval and in approval / disapproval ratio. Headline today that he's even losing support in rural areas. https://www.democraticunderground.com/10141884906

It's like a pile of sand. A grain is added each time, and nothing much happens. But then at some point a grain like all the other grains is added, but it is too much for the way the pile has grown and an avalanche ensues.

So it will be with tRump. Some action he will take will be the last straw for a few RepubliCons and they will speak out. Once the ice is broken (to mix my metaphors) then tRump will do something else that will be much like all the other things he has done but will be the straw that breaks the camel's back (yet more mixed metaphors). Then there will be a rush for the exits and Republicons will be lining up at microphones to remind us of all the times they criticized tRump in the past, hoping we forget the much more numerous times they praised him and jumped on his bandwagon.

RepubliCons own tRump and always will, but he is his own worst enemy.

Vote for Trump's impeachment and then go home to your voters. Ask them to cut you a check for your re-election campaign, donate some time in the phone banks. Good luck with that. These guys would need police protection from their own constituents.

There are a number of districts that will always be majority pro-tRump (Kentucky and Alabama have several).

But most districts are not pro-tRump at this point and his prospects for gaining support are not good.

However, protection is an issue when Turd Reich wingers post like this:

Let’s impeach President Trump because someone made up a story about him on 4Chan that he got peed on by Russian hookers!

Do it, Mueller, and Las Vegas will seem like a picnic in comparison.

There is not a single Republican who will support Trump's impeachment and then return back home to explain his actions to his constituents while campaigning for re-election. Their lives would be in danger.

Furthermore, I don't think Trump is remotely close to impeachment. If I had to put money on it, I'd bet the total net result of Mueller's investigation when all is said and done, millions spent, will be nothing more than an apology, --if that. "My bad. I didn't really know the rules. I never ran for office before. I won't do it again."

I don't have the confidence that many here do that Mueller will save the country from Trump. I have yet see anything to convince me that Trump is the least bit concerned about this investigation.

Mon Oct 9, 2017, 12:03 PM

Why do these people continually mention "Trump's Legislative Agenda", when his only agenda and that of the republicans working behind the curtains is to abolish anything Obama accomplished, their agenda is personal, has nothing to do with making the country, and the World better. They have a very high sense of revenge because they know Obama was a great president, despite of all the opposition, and because of the love and respect the entire World showed and continues to show to Presidents Clinton, President Obama, both democrats, and the fact that G.W. Bush is still considered a terrible presidency.

Also, the World understands what the republicans are, and they are despised, the republicans know what the World thinks of them, that is part of their rage, their envy and their thirst to hurt other people.

The other 1/2 of their agenda is to fill their pockets with tax payers money...

Please stop talking about their legislative agenda, it doesn't exist...it is a farce, they are all frauds.

First of all, for what? What high crime or misdemeanor? Corruption? You'd have to arrest 60% of the Republican members of Congress and Governors if that is suddenly a crime- IOKIYAR is practically a constitutional amendment at this point.

Incompetence? That's not a crime. Hell that is what he was nominated for, and he has delivered. Trump's incompetence has allowed his pals to make dream deals a sane administration would never have allowed.

Lying to his constituents? That's not a crime, either. He told them what they wanted to hear, and they ate it up like an eight year old getting his first Big Mac.

When a reliable poll comes out indicating the Republicans will lose 60 members of the House and 10 Senators, THEN look for them to find a reason to impeach. Not before.
