This is an International problem, global and I personally resent mostly Republicans who allow some of their own "groups" to continue to ruin democracy. To accept the rewards, vacations, bribes? personal wealth? from what is IMO-treason.

With 20-second soundbites, commercials, marketing, advertising... whatever.

We need to co-opt all of these social media enterprises and flood them with true facts and messaging.

We also need to get more aggressive. "My dear friend, the Senator from Alabama..." No, that needs to go. These animals want to see fighters and we need to show them some fight. My Tea Party neighbor always thinks he's slick with the little comments he makes about why he couldn't vote for Hillary. A couple of weeks ago, I lost my cool and told him he should move to Moscow because that's where his loyalty appeared to be. Yesterday, he actually said something positive about Obamacare. I almost choked.

Part of the reason why the Republican public is turning on the turtle is because they think McConnell is weak (EVEN THOUGH HE STOLE A SUPREME COURT SEAT).

Second, I happen to think we might need to use their tactics against them. At least, temporarily.

I was a Compuserve and AOL user back before I could get access to a dial up ISP that provided access to the web. This is the nature of having an open internet. Its also the nature of net neutrality. Anyone who thinks Facebook or Twitter are ever going to be social media platforms that can be wielded and regulated to prevent people from getting fed bullshit on a widespread level doesn't understand a damn thing about how any of this works on a technical level or a psychological level. I'm now a CIS major with 17 years experience in web development, databases and other things related to computer programming. I know what I'm talking about.

If you see hate speech, report it to the administrators. I have done that with hundreds of Youtube videos and Twitter accounts. I don't do Facebook but there is an alert button as well. We can fight the bullshit!
