The idea Trump plans cultural fights to distract isn't supported by the evidence

The top law firms in Washington D.C. won't represent Trump because, it was reported, he is too unpredictable.

The WH staff is often blind sided by Trump's comments and tweets. The Comey firing is a prime example.

Republican leadership in Congress says that Trump's tweets are not helpful because they are a distraction from working to advance his own agenda though Congress. Instead of being able to push Trump's agenda on tv and in interviews, they are answering questions about Trump's latest tweets.

Secretary of State Tillerson reportedly called Trump a "fucking moron".

It's been reported that Trump is furious because he believes he and his administration isn't getting enough credit for the federal responses to the 3 hurricanes. He doesn't think it's been slow, ineffective and mismanaged. He believes the response has been outstanding.

Pence is getting heat for the pre-planned political stunt he did at the football game and it was Trump himself who verified it was a stunt via a tweet.

It's been reported that Trump's own staff distracts him in an effort to manage him.

Trump often goes off script when giving speeches. He can't focus on the message.

There are constant reports of turmoil in the West Wing and it's been that way since Trump assumed office.

In summary, Trump isn't playing 3D chess. He can't even play checkers. Senator Corker's comment about the WH being an adult day center is correct IMO.

It's tough to be the "Greatest President of All Time" when you have no slaves to free or Nazis to beat. Perhaps Trump is going for the opposite record, "Stupidest President of All Time" because, hey, at least it's a record!

are connected to old feuds too. He keeps coming back to the same old things, trying to get amends for old failures or snubs.

but, he had been doing this schtick long enough to know the ancillary benefits.

No, he does not have any fucking clue what he will want, much less work toward past the next McDees value meal. BUT, he absolutely knows how fucking stupid people are and how to take advantage of that.

4. The NFL fight was planned, though.

It came from nowhere and he keeps going back to it. I suspect that somebody - some handler - is influencing Trump to keep picking a fight with the NFL to stoke division in the country.

I suspect Stephen Miller.

Don't think they, including Trump, aren't aware of it. All the elements that keep his base salivating ... shallow patriotism, racist undertones and a lot of emotional appeal.

But why some will now start watching the NFL. I suspect that kneeling is pulling in new viewers (Democrats) and discouraging old ones (Republicans) which is disruptive for advertisers. I think that the NFL needs to embrace it and market it.

But the "Plan" was designed by Putin. Put a deranged, blackmailable, imbecile in charge of our country and then sit back and watch.

I think in some for or another, distraction was the plan, but it wasn't Trump's plan. I think the republican machine thought they could direct Trump where they needed to, while they tried to do things, but they soon learned they can't control him.
