Involuntary psychiatric commitment in D.C....help for 45 is available

I am quite serious. If his threats about North Korea don't place us all at the risk of harm, I don't know what does.

http://www.treatmentadvocacycenter.org/district-of-columbia
"Mandatory Treatment Laws in District of Columbia

Like every state, District of Columbia has civil commitment laws that establish criteria for determining when involuntary treatment is appropriate for individuals with severe mental illness who cannot seek care voluntarily. District of Columbia's laws allow for the use of court-ordered treatment in the community, known as assisted outpatient treatment (AOT).

For inpatient or outpatient commitment, a person must be mentally ill and, because of that mental illness, likely to injure self or others if not committed.

D.C. case law has interpreted “injury” to mean the likelihood of an individual inadvertently placing himself or herself in danger or likelihood of suffering harm. An overt act of physical danger or violence is not required."

and sympathize.

But as someone who has had people committed before (and done commitment evaluations), it won't work. The real check on drump is congress and they need to step up to the plate. Or, as I keep arguing, the Joint Chiefs of Staff. I want them to go to congress and say (essentially) help. He is out of control incompetent.

I agree he needs to be stopped.

who has had ample opportunity to speak against this dangerous psychopath in the White House. He is nothing but a craven abettor who, now that his gravy train is no longer on the line, has suddenly found a spine.

26 September 2017

“After much thought, consideration and family discussion over the past year … I have decided that I will leave the United States Senate when my term expires at the end of 2018,” Corker, a two-term senator from Tennessee who chairs the powerful Senate foreign relations committee, said in a statement.

The announcement came as Corker, a vocal critic of Donald Trump, wrestled with his political future at an inflection point for the Republican party under the current administration.

Corker alluded to his disagreements with the direction of Trump’s presidency in his statement, saying: “The most important public service I have to offer our country could well occur over the next 15 months.”

anything about this POS current mental state, they should be held liable too. But there are some reports that the Congress families are being bullied/threatened by this POS too. So if their own families are being bullied shouldn't call this POS out.

Geez he is a threat to himself and others. Get him out now!!

If they all got together and spoke out, he would be in trouble. Instead they do as Lyin' Ryan recommends "keep it in the family" Well, HE is all yours, gop. The biggest disaster to hit this country in years, a total complete, idiotic failure. So, KEEP HIM. We will get rid of you, too once elections roll around. You were elected to represent your constituents, START NOW.

We are not sitting ducks here let's use our POWER.

the District of Columbia Department of Health's Official Code, Title 21, Chapter 5: Hospitalization of the Mentally Ill. Anyone can find this online and I have most definitely "bothered" to read the relevant sections. I don't claim to have any personal knowledge of 45's mental health beyond his own tweets and what I read in the news, but it is reportedly an open secret in Washington that his mental health is widely questioned by those who are in a position to observe him closely. If there is probable cause to believe that he has a mental illness and that he is in danger of injuring himself or others, he can be transported without warrant for observation and diagnosis.

Section 21-521:
"An accredited officer or agent of the Department of Mental Health of the District of Columbia, or an officer authorized to make arrests in the District of Columbia, or a physician or qualified psychologist of the person in question, who has reason to believe a person is mentally ill, and because of the illness is likely to injure himself or others if he is not immediately detained, may without a warrant take the person into custody, transport him to a public or private hospital, or to the Department, and make application for his admission thereto for the purposes of emergency observation and diagnosis. The application shall reveal the circumstances under which the person was taken into custody and the reasons therefor."

I stand by my original post.
