U.S. President Donald Trump may travel to the demilitarized zone separating the two Koreas as part of his first visit to South Korea in November, Yonhap News reported Tuesday, citing an unidentified military official.
Trump is expected to send a "significant message" to North Korea either verbally or "kinetically" during the trip, Yonhap said, without elaborating on what that may mean.
While Trump would be following his predecessors by visiting the heavily fortified area, any visit to the truce village of Panmunjom and an observation post in the DMZ would take place amid escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The DMZ is well within range of NK artillery.

(630 posts)I have family in South Korea. Went to the DMZ for the first time in 2011 while visiting the country for a wedding. We were given strict instructions about how to behave and even had our wardrobe eye-checked before entering the area visible to NK soldiers. You can see the NK soldiers very clearly, each facing their "mirror" on the South Korean side. We were told not to point, not to take pictures, not to do any provocative.
Wonder if our Fearless Leader might do something stupid in those circumstances.
