I think Trump has always had a floor and a ceiling in the 30s. It's as if he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue in broad daylight and not lose a supporter.

But the supporters he does have show up to vote. It helps that they aren't victims of voter suppression.

Trump would have to come out in favor of a path to citizenship, in favor of Black Lives Matter and against police brutality, and so on.

If Trump did a 180 on civil rights, he'd lose his base. Otherwise, they aren't going to abandon him.
