Here's The Thing Republicans Don't Tell You About Mass Shootings.

In the aftermath - regardless of the target - whether it's a crowd of beer drinking country music fans or gay nightclub patrons or a movie theater with a midnight showing of the latest hot movie - is that the dialogue is almost exactly the same every single time, regardless of where the target is. They are getting to be so predictable in their rhetoric. And it's divided into phases.

The first phase is that they will offer their "thoughts and prayers" to the victims. Which as we've learned - don't really do anything, and certainly won't help prevent the next tragedy. The second phase is that the Christian right will come out *AGAINST* the victims - saying it's their own fault for being in the location of choice because that's what god and Jesus would want. While the pundits like Alex Jones will work around like clockwork to tell you to blame everything else but the big black cylinder with a trigger on it - whether it's antifa, or Muslims, or immigrants, or their favorite target - "The Deep State" - or something else. And whatever insane accessory that is attached to it that makes the shooter kill more victims at a faster rate. Anything but their precious, precious guns. The third phase is that the NRA will guarantee they will have backers in Congress who will obstruct any meaningful legislation that will pass to make it so that there's some sort of meaningful gun control in this country. The fourth phase is conspiracy theories - the A list GOP celebrities have already spoken out, so it's time for the D-listers to get noticed who will cook up the most insane things you've ever heard like "it was a deep state false flag operation".

So the idea - no matter what the target, no matter how many people get killed, this is the same thing happening over and over. The idea is to blame anything but the gun and what's attached to it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. This - what the NRA does in the event of a tragedy - is the very definition of insanity. The GOP and the right wing sure love their guns. But if you happen to stand in the way of a bullet - whether you live or die - it's your own damn fault for being in the way of the gun.

in a mall shooting. Her son insisted they go into a store just before the guy started firing in the hall area. The store clerk ushered everyone into the back room where my sister continued to look at clothes - that is her way, to pretend it is not happening. All these years later she still talks about it over and over. Even if you survive, your life is changed.

And they had interviewed 8 different people about it. It was horrifying just reading it.

then the problem is GUN OWNERS.

the unorganized militia should be regulated. there must be responsibilities that go with bearing arms.
