I just watched Lawrence O'Donnell's conversation with Jennifer Rubin from the Washington Post. She suggested that maybe a "sane" Republican could win the primaries with 35-40%.
Could the Senator be taking a long-view strategy?

(15,124 posts)If the Senator doesn't seek reelection, he has three years to network, organize and fundraise for a run in 2020. By then, the travesty of Trump will have been revealed to the world. If he's still in office, he'll be extremely weakened.
Senator Corker might actually be a very smart guy.
First one to try and clean off the stench.

Nonetheless, Mr. Corker is not our ally. He's a Republican.

I can only imagine what the "unvarnished" Trump must be like!

(22,037 posts)...there will need to be a Republican who can state unequivocally that they opposed Trump.
If Pence survives the Trump years, he will be so slimed that he won't have the credibility to be the nominee. Personally, I believe he will be caught up in Robert Mueller's investigation. One can only hope.
