Why Trump is attacking the press?

Simply put, he is programming his followers. He knows them well.

If, and when, Mueller comes out with his report and it implicates Donald Trump, he will argue that it is just another example of "fake" news. Nobody can believe anything from the mainstream media.

And his base will believe him. They will not believe any thing from Mueller.

And so long as he has his base, the Republican Party will never lift a finger to do anything about it. He is in the White House for as long as he likes, so long as the Republicans are in charge.

That is why he is attacking the press at this time.

is nothing more than a pipe dream. Fox would line up behind him if he said the world is flat, and his minions would react angrily at those who tried to say otherwise. Unless we see serious, significant changes in 2018, I think he's there for two terms.

If you have not watched the movie "Hypernormalization," you should.

We will have to take our Country back. They won't give it. That's what I'm saying. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

With little pushback from Dems against the "liberal media" meme. And it's worked. Millions are convinced the media is, for the most part, run by the far left (i.e., a mainstream centrist Democrat, in their eyes). Rather than a handful of giant corporations.

Distrust journalists and the press corps = believe only what Trump says

Distrust the media, photos and videos = believe only what Trump says

Distrust the functions of government = believe only what Trump says

Distrust science and education = believe only what Trump says

Distrust foreigners and people who look different = believe only what Trump says

Distrust women, Democrats, poor folks = believe only what Trump says

Historically, when a dictator takes over, the first thing to go is any kind of free press -- one that could point out lies, inconsistencies and criminal activity. Control the message, control the people.

Which is why #45 loves Fox News so much -- it's virtually a Republican state-operated media outlet that exclusively presents their party line, and serves as the voice and protector of the extreme right and #45's administration.

The problem is that the press doesn't counterattack. They have ample ammunition.

We are in this mess because our bedrock hedge against politics - a free press acting with integrity - has all but vanished from the landscape.

Without it, the people have no defense against the oligarchs and the politicians who blow them.

They want someone to do the hard work for them. Then, when the special investigators and the FBI make their reports of their investigations, then they will stand in line to be the first to interview the FBI Director.

The press has a lot of flaws but I would rather have it than not...
